i know this is a discussion that is one year old but still i wanted to respond. In tamil nadu india the best remedy that we have for chicken pox is neem leaves. WE have a lot of neem leaves in the room of that person. AND we use bunches of neem leaves to lightly rub against places where it itches. THis prevents us from scratching our skins out... also neem leaves are taken in. It is a great antiseptic

Oatmeal bath. You can blend your own to a powder or make a poltice to pack on the pox. It kind of helps. Another thing to try is celery. Eating it is good for the nerve endings and celery seed oil can be helpful as well as st. john's wart liquid if you can find them. I was one of the fortunate people that seemed to be immune until I was pregnant. I then got a light case of them, about 7 spots. They hurt, but I hoped it would mean natural immunity for my baby--no such luck. About 4 years later, we had them together. I had a much better case that time. The good news is that after about 7 years, I received the gift of shingles, which was the pox just hanging in my system to strike again. Good times.

The best medicine is time... It's really annying I know, but just wait a week or two, then it's gone.

There's really not much you can do except ride out the storm. I got the chicken pox a week before my senior prom. I don't know how, but I was all better and able to attend. I remember mom putting calamine lotion on the pox to help with the itching. I have read that an antihistimine will also help with the itching, as well as make you drowsy and able to get some rest, and taking baths with oatmeal or epsom salts. Avoid topical hydrocoritzone creams, and stay out of the sun.

There is no medicine for chicken pox. Last time I worked in a factory - all who lived in the dormitory got infected with chicken pox. Wait till it is over. Be patient. I hope no one will be contaminated.

You might try Benedryl, which is an antihistimine and might help with the itching. Otherwise, the only thing you can do is put some calamine lotion on (you can find it at the pharmacy--dab some on a cotton ball and apply it to the bumps) and wait it out. You should be better in a week or so. Avoid other people who haven't had it so they don't become infected. Except for kids. It's actually better if they get it while they're young, because as children it's actually less severe than if they get it when they're adults.
