Why does my cat eat packing tape?

We are putting away some things and I have a box with loose packing tape on it, and I can't keep my cat away from it. It's like catnip! Better in fact. Why is she so crazy about packing tape?

It's so frustrating! My cat has taken to chewing on tape, plastic bags, bubble wrap, paper, ribbon. I'm afraid he will eat something when I'm not there to catch him and die from it.

I KNOW! That's my biggest thing too. I think my cat likes the taste of the adhesive - I caught her licking a band-aid yesterday...good luck with you kitty!

I don't really know an answer but our female cat is the same way. Any kind of tape - even double sided - she loves to chew on. Our male cat could care less.

That is so weird. Why would they do that? I wonder if there is something in the tape that could make them sick, I hope not. Strange stuff.

Is there such a term for cats addicted to packing tapes? lol. . guess your cat just like the stickiness of the tape going on from the tape to her mouth, and from her mouth to the tape. haha! btw, is your cat a girl or a boy? :]

Girl. I don't even think the tape is sticky anymore, she'll devour old or new tape. Maybe she's like one of those kids in school that used to eat paste? ;-)
