and Canaanites ADO. The Isralites not only shared the word EL with the original people of Palestine but borrowed the name of their chief deity - ADO and turned into ADONAI, and everwhere the four-letter word YHWH occured in their holy scripture, they read 'ADONAI' instead of 'Yahuwah'
