Do you think it's wrong to vote for a President based on race?

I've noticed a lot of people are supporting Barack Obama for president because he is black. I think it is completely un-American to vote for someone based on race. How would it sound if someone said they like Hillary Clinton better because she is white? It makes me sad that this man could win not because of his credentials but because of what he looks like! What do you think?

I think what's best is to vote for someone based on the capabilities and his character. Your choice should not be based on race, gender or religion. This is a democratic country and we should give everyone the freedom to choose the leader who's best suited for the job. The track record of the person could be the best way to assess whether he or she is capable enough to handle presidency.
