What does it mean to be human?

To be human, you have to be the highest form of living thing. Humans are the only living thing given the ability to reason. And that alone is the only thing that defines us. We were given the ability to choose and think. And that makes us the highest form of living creatures. Unfortuantely, despite that fact and even if we are considered the luckiest animal or living thing on earth because we are the only one who can fully take advanatge of God's given gifts, we are also the people who failed to think and reason how we have squandered those very gifts that was given. I guess all these define what Human is.

Such deep question.. Hmmm, for me, being human means having the ability to think for oneself, regardless of what our instinct tells us to do. Having the compassion for others, whether they be humans or animals, and lastly, having MERCY. That is one thing that makes us different from other living things.

wat does it mean to be human???....well...to me it means im not an ANIMAL...!!! that i can talk....and i have only 2 legs...and hands too.....and i can have lovely long hair....wich i can style into various styles....and put makeup..!!! ^_^

Most of the people today are looking for their purpose in life. They are trying to know themselves by reading books about discovering one's self. These books are good. These books teaches us to know more about ourselves, teaches us how to improve. Gives us hint on how should we be able to overcome our problems or anxieties. We tend to rely on these books and forget that we are human beings and not human doings. We forget that there are certain things in our lives that are beyond our capabilities or powers. Sometimes we overdo ourselves to please others and thats the biggest mistake because we cant please everyone. We need to know whats good and whats wrong so we can live in harmony with others. This is just my opinion.

I am a libertarian, anarchist person, so I think that the most important thing in the world is freedom. So, to me, what makes a person a human person is only one thing: RESPECT. If the respect is at the basis of our social relations we could do everything we want. To me everybody should be free to do all that he/she wants, I'm not against followers of every faith, I'm not against every kind of sexuality, I'm for freedom for everybody, but we need everybody respects everybody. This is the only limit to me....
