well i was wondering if anyone out there found it odd as i did that yousuf youhana had renounced christianity and embraced islam. dont you find it a bit odd and something awry that the only non-muslim player(i dunno if kaneria was around at that time when yousuf converted) converts to the same religion as the rest of his teammates?i know it sounds insidious to suggest, but i guess someone has to ask if he did so under pressure to retain his place in the team? its a thought that had been in the back of my mind all this while and now i would like to know the views of knowledgable cricket lovers.

Dear Islam teaches peace, harmony and peaceful equality, when Mohammad Yousaf joined in the team he was a christian, and was and is a mind blowing player, but later on as Allah showed him the right path and he adopted Islam. He was even the best player at the time he joined so he didnt did it for the sake of maintaining his position, but to adopt the right path. When truth comes false hood perishes for false høód is bound to perish may Allah(S.W.T) show the right path to all of us! Amin

No, its not like that maybe he was influenced by his teammates and he likes the way islam has built his structure....His slot was fixed in the team even if he does not convert...as is the case with kaneria he is a must to play in test matches...

being influenced by islam is totally understandable for it is indeed a great religion. but what concerns me more is the thought that yousuf converted to appease the hardliners and to integrate himself with the rest of the team.kaneria i'm guessing came along much later than the whole thing so i dont know how much the same applies to him. but mebbe the whole practice of the team reading their namaaz TOGETHER as a team in full view of the media...do you think that had simething to do with his decision?
