Migraines, what a pain. Do you have migraines and how do you deal with them?

I have had migraines since I was 8 years old. I never knew what started them or how to cope with them and my foster parents just felt I was faking so they were no help. I spent the next 30 years suffering debilitating migraines.
I couldn't stand the light or flashing lights and would have to spend 12 hours in the total dark throwing up every half hour.
How do you deal with the pain??

I haven't had a migrain for awhile.
Having said that i bet i do now. Normally i don't because i get a very bad form where i can't sleep, eat, move and i shake none stop. I used to have these all the times during my younger teen years and most of the time i was at school. (bad lighting)
I had to put up with it and work, which was hard as i couldn't see anything my hand writing sucked and i was throwing up nearly every second. (most of the time i was able to go home as they locked the gates while we was in) =)

I know it is really painful having migraines. My mom has the same. She often relies on medicines which I don't believe is great. But lately I found out something that could really help you. Every day when you wake up, before brushing your teeth, take 2 teaspoons of sunflower oil and gargle it in your mouth for a few minutes. It will foam up, then spit it out. Then follow your normal routine. This really helps you relieve from migraine.

I have had headaches for about 5 years now. I had a MRI of my head and they found a malformation(tumor). You should have a MRI done for safety purposes. I had to get shots from my doctor to relieve the pain.Get you'r eyes checked to.Stress can also cause migraines.Call a doctor and see what he can do for you.Hope this helps.lol

I've been having pretty bad migraines for about three or four years. Sometimes they can get so bad I'll have a blackout or end up praying to the porcelain god(If you know what I mean). I usually try to take three ibuprofen as soon as I feel it starting. It'll usually keep the migraine to a low pulsing pain. Mine usually don't last for more than three or four hours. It is very debilitating and very annoying.

I've gotten migraines since I was a teenager. Over the past 10 years they've become easier to deal with because of all the new medications on the market, Imitrex and Zomig work the best for me. Yes, they're expensive, but they're SO worth it.The headache AND the side effects are gone within one hour of taking the pill. I've also taken fouricet, which doesn't work as well, but its not nearly as expensive.
