I was chatting with my siblings and we got to talking about the first meals we ever learned how to cook. we debated back and forth and figured out that the 'simple' breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast, and pancakes was the first real, cooked meal we ever did. At that time i was 12 year old.
do you remember what was the first 'meal' you ever cooked and how old you were?
i'm just kinda curious especially since when i talked to my friends about this it turned out the guys learned how to cook (and i mean REAL cooking. adding milk to captain crunch does not count as cooking) at an earlier age than the gals (and some gals still hadn't learned how to cook anything)

this topic brings a big smile to my face, as I truly remember the first time I was supposed to start supper were going to have macaroni with tomatoes one of my favorite meals. I was about 8 years old I was supposed to put the water on to boil at 4.45 PM for the macaroni. That day a friend asked me to go and play with them after school, and I was afraid I might be late so I put the water in the pot and added the macaroni at lunch time so all I had to do was move the pot over on to the hot part of the stove at4.45 PM. I cam home at 430, and of course I found a pot of glue, I was terrified my mother would be furious, and my father would be very angry as supper would be late. I ran to the store and told the lady who worked there and she smiled and said no problem here is another package of macaroni, and I ran home and did it properly, but some how the entire town knew what I had done I found this our later when we moved away my mother told me she had known before she even got home what had happened but in order to save my feelings did not ask any questions. Thanks for the memories

Remembering when I first started to learn how to cook always brings a smile to my face. Since I always enjoyed cooking with my mother. The first two things I learned how to make was deviled eggs and pancakes. The eggs turned out good, but it took me a lot of practice to flip pancakes without the top part being splattered everywhere, and still to this day I still have a minor problem of splattering the pancakes, but it always brings back the good memories of when I first started learning and it makes me giggle.

Wow that was so long ago , I honestly don't remember although I do remember at a very young age making coffee for my father all the time and bringing it to him and I know that my sister and I were always trying to make fudge and it would never work out for us so we would have to hide if for a few days before we could throw it away or our mom would notice and be upset lol .

It was scrambled egg. I was 10 I think. It tasted good but salty, my mother said. I put too much salt I guess.
