Firefox or Opera

Until a few years earlier, it was either Internet Explorer or, Netscape Navigator that we were familiar with as web browsers. But now, more and more people seem to be opting for Mozilla Firefox that supports dynamic threading, thereby enabling faster web browsing. I recently noticed however, that if we open 8-9 tabs simultaneously while using Firefox, and especially if a few tabs contain Java-applets-enriched website, the PC performance level goes down suddenly. I presume there is some sort of memory leak somewhere. In such a scenario, Opera performs quite good. It has a very low memory usage and gives a very fast download speed. But I sometimes wonder is this disparity a general phenomenon... I mean, does it so happen with some of you people too?

I use firefox because it is a safer browser. It does slow down but it is only because firefox is checking every site you pull up for viruses or spyware. I am fine with it slowing down if it is going to keep my computer safe.

If protection from spyware and other malware is what you are looking for, try out Zone Alarm Pro and Give Opera a try. That should be a deadly combination...

If protection from spyware and viruses is what you are looking for, Zone Alarm Pro should be the best deal. A browser is meant to provide faster web browsing and higher download speeds(transfer rates). I presume Opera scores better in such a context...

I'm using Firefox due to security reason compare to IE. Guess the reason why I prefer to use Firefox as my standard browser due to its functionality.

I am a great fan of opera.firefox is good too and ie doesnot measure upto both them in any way.comparing opera and firefox opeara has less memory usage, more streamlined interface, more features like mouse gestures & voice recognition etc.it could have been the most popular browser but it became free only from version 9.Thus many people never got to use it and stuck with firefox. It has a few unique feature like password wands which should be there in any browser by default.firefox scores only in the department of add-ons and plugins. If anyone customises with literally hundreads of add-ons firefox's features can increase exponentially.but i would like to say to all firefox fans out there that if they haven't yet used opera they would probably love it if they did.Just try it.

Yes it happen to me also, firefox many times uses many of my computer resource and memory space a lot. Opera is a lot lighter than fireforx I think, but firefox can loading websites very fast in my place, especially when I add faster fox extention, I don't care if it drain my cpu resource, just imho.

I have not had any slowing with Firefox. I am extremely happy with it. The pages load rapidly and downloads are much quicker than with IE. I often have many tabs open at once, some with Java scripts running, and have not had any problems with performance. I have never tried Opera, and am wondering if I should, just for comparison. I went to Firefox because of the security and performance problems with IE7. Who would have ever thought that IE would be replaced as the preferred browser????

i use firefox and i love it.opera is quite famous also but i never tried it. i want to compare both but i don't want to load my computer with many browser. IE have so much problem,i wonder why, even after i've updated to IE7,i always stuck and slow. i wonder if firefox put some 'evil' script so that it crashes IE and get bad review..:P

i use firefox because the IE needs to have a validate certificate of windows, so i prefer firefox because it´s free and it´s more safer than IE
