The moon and star symbol is associated with Islam. Arnold Lieber's book How the Moon affects You eloquently argues about how the phase of the moon affects behaviour of people. Do you think choice of this symbol is unfortunate, since it depicts Lunacy?

The christians have the Cross The Jews have the star of David & The Muslims have the crescent Moon, right? what is the history behind the crescent moon symbol? how and when it got associated with the faith of Islam? The moon and star symbol actually pre-dates Islam by several thousand years. The moon was featured on the city's flag even before the birth of Christ. Until Ottoman Empire the muslims have no symbols in thier flags. when the turks conquered constantinople [Istanbul] in 1453, they adopted the city's existing flag symbol.

Are you saying that Islam copied a Byzantium symbol? I have also seent the website where this is copied from word for word. It would be really nice to either have your opinion, or let us benefit from your vast knowledge of comparative religion.

I don't understand why it hurts u when i gave my response with which i thought a good reply to your question... Is is a crime or violation of law? lolz Islam has nothing to copy, the followers of Islam took the symbol. and we r told not to take any symbols or signs from unbelievers which represent their DEITY. So in this context, if muslims have copies or used the symbol whats wrong in it?

Thank you for your response, comment and follow-up. I think we are talking at cross-purposes here. The mention of the word "copy" is in relation to your response and not to the flag. Thanks for clarifying your understanding.
