Photos vs Digital images...impersonal or practical?

My mom in law (amazing woman) wanted to show me sum photos she took of the babies and she pulled out a bag and started flipping through some lil blue chip card thingys .....pulled out her laptop and started going through thousands of photos. i was like * wow * .....and thought it was fantastic . I think the idea is cool but i also want photos up on my wall and in picture frames it makes it a personal touch ....have we become to impersonal ?
