What kind of kid books do you like best?
Books have come a long way and there are a lot more being written now then there used to be. But I've noticed that while some of the newer books ARE still good, sometimes the older books were a little more interesting and had illustrations that were more charming then some of the ones today.
For myself, I like both. I'm a bookaholic. I love flipping through old books and new books. Shiny glossy new pages or old pages that you can tell have been around a while, I'd take any of them.
Do you prefer older books, newer books, or both? What are some of your favorite kids books?

I love children's books. I really love the old ones the best of all, especially the horse stories. Some of the old illustrations are so gorgeous. My favorite illustrators are C.W. Anderson, Wesley Dennis, Rich Rudish, Robert Lougheed, and Sam Savitt.
I love some of the new illustrators too like Susan Jeffers and Jan Brett.
As for reading the old children's books, some of my favorite authors are Frances Priddy, C.W. Anderson, Marguerite Henry, Shirley Rousseau Murphy.
I love the old children's series books. I find them to be much better reading than the newer series books. My favorite series are Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, Three Investigators.
There are so many other childrens books that I like that I can't even list them all.

The older ones seem to have more imagination to them; especially Dr. Seuss. Not many people know that he wrote more than just "Cat In The Hat". One of my favorite books from him was "Bartholomew And The Oobleck"; it's a short story but kids really seem to love it. I collect Halloween books too so I have a lot that are for younger kids but hey, they are fun to read!

I find it really interesting that you collect Halloween books because I do also and I haven't met anyone else that has. I mean, I know people do but I haven't met any of them. Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year, I may even like it more then my kids too. I collect Halloween Kids books and sometimes Halloween craft and cookbooks. One of my favorite Halloween kid books so far is called The ABC's Of Halloween by Patricia Reeder Eubank. The illustrations are beautifully done and really neat. The book follows the alaphabet with two black cats Halloween style. My description doesn't do it justice, it just really appealed to me when I first came across it.
We have several Seuss books. My 5 year old has always liked Hop on Pop.

Awesome! You should consider joining Epinions and writing some reviews about the boosk that you have collected. I am not going to say that you will get rich but it is a nice little site and they do indeed pay.

I bought a few books to my child, which I liked when I was kid, and I am glad that he likes them too.:)

Alot of books these days have more of a story to and some make you think. on the other hand the classic books had these and also they made you dream. both are simular but the thing i like about new ones is the fact i haven't read them.
I'd say both.

My little one age 3yrs loves the books that his big brother (now 12) loved. We're going on a bear hunt, wheres my teddy. My mum kept all my books and we have them here for the children, but my LO seems to always choose the newer books. I must admit I also like the same two as my son, only because I know them by heart, so if pushed for time I can start reading the story while I get him dressed for bed.
