I've been writing poetry for a long time now and have a good collection of my poems. I've always wanted to publish it as a book but had no idea where to start. The conventional form of publishing somehow intimidated me and I never gave it a serious thought.
Thanks to a fellow user and friend on myLot, I found an excellent site to publish my book of poems for free! I've been working on it for the past one week and now its finally done.
I published my first book of poems titled "Reflections of the Heart".It feels great, like a dream come true:) Do take a look and tell me what you think. You can either buy it or download it.

That is just soo wonderful =)! Am really happy for you--as one person who also dreams of publishing her own book, my sincerest congratulations to you! Wishing you on the success of your book!
I do think that sharing your poems is one of the best ways of sharing yourself to others...=)
Like you, I also happened upon lulu.com & was pretty much intrigued by it, is it really free? You didn't shell out any money before your book was published? Just curious...thanks! =)

Hi greengal! And it's great that there are community sites such as mylot to get inspiration & tips in our aspirations in life--so thanks as well =)!
Actually, I signed up with lulu before but I still haven't gotten around to publishing anything (I did research as well on the site & basically I read great reviews on this site--so yay for us! ^_^) But I did get curious that before actually publishing your book, I read somewhere that you have to purchase your book, sort of to proofread it or something (so you didn't in your case?)--at least that's what I understood about it... but hmm, if you say you didn't pay a single penny & your book got published--that's really great! & congrats as well--I saw that you had 6 stars on your customer rating! =)

Hi raenie, that's a double yay for us..coz I've read some great reviews too:) When you are in the last step of the publishing process, lulu suggests that you buy a copy to proof read, but I was confident about what I uploaded and the book format so I went ahead and published it. I did order a copy for myself, for which only the manufacturing cost was charged. Other than for the copy, I haven't been asked to pay for anything else. I am waiting for my copy so I can check and then promote it on a large scale.

Wow--that's great news greengal =)! Thanks for the insider tip on that--now I'm more excited about publishing a book via lulu.com! Once I get more time on my hands (since school's almost over here in the philippines--just a month to go!) I'll try to concentrate more on writing! Thanks again greengal, & looking forward to your success (& more books!) =) happy valentine's day as well! =)

Thanks a ton cupoftea, you should tell your daughter to publish her content. There is no reason to be afraid at all. Check www.lulu.com and tell her to submit her content, she can design her book the way she wants and even control whom it is available to.

Congratulations! Now that you have published your first book, it would be much easier to publish the next ones. I am an author and translator to the Word of God from Greek to English and I have also used lulu which I incidentally found in 2004. I was hard up with the first but it became easy for the succeeding books.
I have already published THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), GENESIS & EXODUS (Greek to English), ELEMENTS of SALVATION, The Right Way, GOD, ORIGIN, TRANSFER into PERFECTION, GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New Testament, and others shown at http://www.lulu.com/arseniajoaquin
I hope that you will keep on writing and publishing. May God bless you.

i had a look at this link and congratulations...it seems a great opportunity...I am a writer too and I am used to writing poems...I hope I can publish something one day or another and your is a wonderful encouragement for me...do you think they publish only English books or books written in other languages, too? I mean, I am Italian and I am used to writing in English during the whole day because I am a doctor and a researcher but my heart speaks Italian and therefore when I write my feelings I write in Italian..of course I can try to translate it but it wouldn't be the same...can you tell me something more?
thank you very much

Congratulations I'm real pleased for you, as getting stuff published is far from easy, may I be cheeky and ask how you get your poetry work published, as I myself have poetry and don't have a clue of where or who to go to in regards to getting it published. Thank you!

Congratulations on your first book. That's great, and you are very lucky to have successfully made your book up for sale.I have been writing poems for quite a long time too, and some of poems were published either in magazines and certain websites like www.poetry.com. my dream is to have it published. I have tried to find a good publishing company in my country, yet I haven't been successful with that.

Though I am not much into a poetry, I share your happiness, here.
Wish you all the best and hope this is just only the beginning of your success, and there will be many books to come.:)
