For material gifts, I'd say you go for the personalized ones. Your thoughts are more reflected when you made it yourself than merely buying itover the counter. There's no effort on that.

my husband give me nothing, but the romantic things he did was he cooked my favorite food on our valentine dinner. He hugged me and kissed me. Its the thought that count!
