What are your thoughts-Windows XP vs Vista.....

I admit I've went from Windows 98 to ME, now to XP. I know when I first upgraded to Windows ME, I got it around the time it first came out. I learned I would never do that again. It crashed countless times, I almost went back to 98...
When Windows XP was introduced, I waited for a while before I upgraded and now I'm totally content with XP. However, now there is Vista which is has said to offer so much more and the thought sounds wonderful. I've been reading up on it and wondering should I upgrade, or just as XP wait a while until all the bugs and such are fixed.
Lastly, I was thinking to myself, if it isn't broke why fix it. But, still I'm sorta curious and want to try...You know you hear all the hype about it and just want it..
What are your thoughts to Windows Vista? Do you have it or thinking about upgrading to it? If you have it, how do you like it?
If you could please tell me the pros and cons with Vista if you know, or should I do what I did with XP and just wait a while?

I'm actually like you are, I'll be waiting and see the other response on using vista first than just upgrade to vista right now, since from my expirience using windows operating system, it would be better wait for a year maybe to get a more stable version, I don't now how microsoft will do it, may be using a patch or just release a service pack just like the xp version.

Lameran, I am the same way...I know some of them packages they release can take forever. I also heard that you have to have a really good computer, because not all computers can stand Vista...I made this post to see where it goes and what others think. I'm very interested to see how this topic unfolds...thank you for responding...

Ricky, you will stay with Vista, cause Vista has too many bugs? Maybe you typed the wrong OS you currently using?
Yes, I'm quite satisfied with XP, however, everytime I turn around someone is talking about Vista. I've heard good and bad, but I need more information, not just from articles. Real people who have it, thinking about it, or can give me information on it.
You know when you read about Vista, it's always GOOD, never the bad or the REAL scoop...I'm waiting to see..
thank you for responding also

I have heard there are a ton of Bugs inall areas of Vista. I also heard there were many bugs in the Secuity system and there are so many that Windows is paying people to help and report them but only certain computer geek people because I already checked! I wish I could get that job! haha anyways, I have windows XP media center edition and I LOVE it I will not switch until Vista is Better than what I hav right now! don't wnat to pay more for less right now! I'll wait it'll be there when I want it!

Aww it's ok, I haven't even considered that, however, that's something very important that people need to know before spending alot of money on a OS that possibly their pc's can't handle...

Im similar to you, i really want to try Vista out. Its new and i want to see what all the hype is about. Cost isnt an issue for me as because i am at university in the UK i can get it free. My university is part of the academic alliance so i can get the business version for free. But i dont want to go ahead and install it if its going to cause me endless problems. I guess ill at least wait until service pack 1 comes out and fixes the majority of the major compatability and bug issues.

I'd probably wait and see what happens...But, man everytime I hear someone say, "VISTA IS AWESOME", it makes me want to get it more..But, I hear the con's too..
Thank you for responding..

I am probably same as you are, wanting the new OS just like everyone else.
I started installing Vista on several computers i use from the first Beta release they came out with to the RC versions and now the commercially available versions too.
But from my experience, i'd just want to share to you that it will be worth the wait to stick it out first with XP and let everyone fix their drivers and softwares to work with Vista. Its a compatibility hell out there. Unless your a tech junkie that can work around stuff then i won't stop you.

Well you are one of the few that stopped me, I'm far from a tech...I probally just sit around and see what people got to say..
I need to hear more YES, go ahead and the reasons why..The first thing that stopped me is the pc compatibility..lol

My advice would be to wait a while. I've heard of Vistas, but I have yet to try it. I'm satisfied with Windows XP at the moment. And besides, it's probably really expensive at the moment, so I'm going to wait to see how others rate it before I make any decisions.

yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do, I think...I mean I have to really really sold on an expensive product...So far I'm content and really just curious to see what others have to say first hand or more informative info..and besides my XP is working fine :)

Well anyone knows abt the new features in Vista.
Vista has a unique feature in it while installing on any PC.
1st it analyaze ur PC
theb it install only those components which can run with your PC config.
that doesn't mean that Vista is this, it has a lot more features but it install only if ur PC is supporting it.
So if u want to enjoy the full Vista then get a better PC.
for Analyzing your PC for Vista try this site

Oh wow...So that's what they meant when they said not all computers can handle Vista...
A computer can have Vista installed but not all the installations that Vista has to offer will be installed if your pc..
Very interesting...thank you for responding

Yes that is very important too...It's almost like how I buy these new game systems for my son.
It comes out here in the US around the end of the year mostly, I normally wait until the following year, say Chrismas to buy for him...
Yes, just coming out can be very very costly. I too, can wait..
Thank you for responding...

Woow WIndows Vista.. what a hot subject i can say. I have talked a lot in my area with many of my friends and all of them had only positive thoughts about it. I can say that i was blow off by this new windows system. Some things certainly lack to it but this new look which Microsoft has incorporated in it certainly do the money you would give for it. I have waited this new system for 2 weeks and here i am using it. It was pretty hard for me to buy it because in my area it can't be found. So i had to ask a friend from another part of my country to order me. I am so happy using it and all i have are only words of gratitdue. I post here a short description about VISTA.
Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features; some of the most significant include an updated graphical user interface (GUI) and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista also aims to increase the level of communication between machines on a home network using peer-to-peer technology, making it easier to share files and digital media between computers and devices. For developers, Vista includes version 3.0 of the .NET Framework out of the box. The .Net Framework makes it significantly easier for developers to write high-quality applications than with the traditional Windows API.
