well i do not mind watching televison and it never bothers me, there are lots ot tv shows that are entertaining and we learn as well, like national geographic channel and lifestyle tv.
as long as we limit ourselves watching, an hour or two will do...just do it with limitations..
good luck,,,

I think that it depends on what you watch on TV, or what interests you. It may also affect both extremes. At one extreme, if the person is an avid TV viewer, I think it can really take their mind off their mind. Television sometimes gives a false sense of security and/or reality, and the person should be able to realize that. That's why it's called the "idiot box" for that reason. On the other extreme, there are people who are not avid TV viewers for their own reasons, and they are somehow aware that TV indeed takes their mind off their mind. I'm on the latter extreme.

Not necessarily, but it's the same thing with anything else, like reading, surfing the net, videogames, etc .. if you are busy with something it takes over all your attention and thoughts, it can be good or bad depending on what knowledge/ideas you get from what distracts you from your life and if it's useful/constructive or not .. and at times we do need anything to keep us busy despite the quality of it..

I dont know what u mean by that and i certainly disagree with it.. the thing with technology whatever it may be is that u have to have it under control and should know how to use it. So if it is just for some entertainment and time pass and certainly a source of information...it is really a great invention

I agree with you TV numbs out our minds. People commonly watch a few hours a day, then complain that they do not have enought time to create the positive healthy lifestyle cahnges they need. TV numbs our brains and wastes our time. Occasionally, a good movie or documentry can be a positive thing. I watch on average one to two hours a month of quality TV. Life is so amazing why spend it watching someone else live it?

yes it does but in this society of busyness and type A personalities we need tv to relax. We can't be doing something productive all the time. We spend 8 hours a day at work, or longer, and then we have to come home and feed the cat, clean the house and make plans for the next day, don't we deserev a little down time. I think TV gets a bad rap.
