Babies & their feet....

Baby Feet - My daughter chewing on her toes.

Do all babies try to chew on their toes or have a thing for putting their feet in their mouth once they realize they have them? My daughter is 6 months old & teething horrible, recently she discovered that she could grab her feet & put them in her mouth, so lately that is all she tries to do all the time. If I lay her on her back she grabs her feet & tried to chew on both of them at the same time. Is it just because she is teething? (everything seems to be going in the mouth right now) Or do all babies do this? My son never did, but he never put anything in his mouth except food, pacifier, & bottle, he didn't even put his fingers in his mouth.

i think babies tries to grab their feet and arms, they intend to suck it and chew sometimes, that is normal i think. because my four months son is doing that also, he always grab his feet, and suck his thumb, he doesn't want pacifier,he just keep it coming out from his mouth whenever i put his pacifier,he likes his thumb most. happy parenting to us.

I think it's perfectly normal. My mother always told me that I had a great love for my feet when I was a baby! I have an 18 month old son and though he's gotten better about it, EVERYTHING use to go in his mouth, food, feet, fuzzies off the carpet, the cats' tail! I think it's just something some babies go through, but like I said, my son's gotten better, he even picks up and throws the fuzzies off the carpet out for me now lol

My 4 1/2 month old has worked and worked on getting his toes to his mouth over the last few weeks. He has quite a tummy, so it was a bit of a task. Now that he's figured out how to do it, though, those feet go right up to his mouth everytime he's laying down. He tries in the bath, but has a tendency to flip over. He's teething too, so everything is going in the mouth. Right now, they are exploring everything around them and trying to decide what is food and what isn't, what the textures are, what everything is. Enjoy this time, you are watching so much development!

When my son was little, he finally managed to bring his foot up to his face, but he wouldn't chew on it. I'm not sure why either. He did like to chew on his hand, inbetween the thumb and forefinger though. Chewed a blister there! It's probably just their way of exploring their body, and some kids aren't as fascinated by feet.

I would say it is because she is teasing and also something new that she learned she will out grow it My kids did it,I thought it was funny at firet and then thought I should stop them and the dr. said let them figure out for themselves that it hurts and they will quit.I wouldn't say all babies do it but most do I wish you luck and I wouldn't stress to much over it she gets teeth in she won't do it for long.

A lot of babies find their feeet and those feet go into their mouths. It is part of finding that they can move this way. They generally put every thing in to their mouths.all of my kids did this when they were put down on thieir backs.

not all babies are the same. my son never put his feet on his mouth but he sometimes put his foot on his head like a way of playing. don't worry about your child... you would surely miss that time when she can't do that anymore...

I work with children...but I don't have any. But I've seen a ton of babies and I can tell you that at that age, things do start going for the mouth. That is why you have to be veryyy careful with things around the house. You don't want little beads or anything small laying around that she could get her hands on and put in her mouth and choke. I wouldn't worry about the fact that she's doing it...just be extra careful with stuff around the house! When I was little apparently I used to suck on my big toe all the time.

My kids put their toes in their mouths a lot, but not as much as my sister did. I remember when my sister was born, I was 11 yrs old and she had her toes in her mouth ALL THE TIME! LOL
