How can be reduce poverty

There are several programs around the world to reduce poverty. One of the programs also talked about empowering the poor which means giving them small employment and making them independent. Sounds good. what do you think? Can we as an individual contribute towards reducing poverty????

In india, Poverty can be reduced by mainly Controlling population and removing the roots of corruption as these two are the major cause of all the problems including economic degradation , poverty and instability!
