Anyone using the new yarns you see in the stores now?

They have more yarns that ever, most of them in small, expensive skeins. It would cost a fortune to make a big project out of these! Has anyone used the new yarns? What did you make? Are they hard to crochet with?

I've used the eyelash yarn and it is very expensive. I don't care for it for crocheting, but it works up very nice in knitting.
One project I did for my granddaughter was a pair of knit mitts. They were so pretty, using a solid color in ordinary yarn for the cuff, thumb and end of the hand, and I used the variagated complimentary eyelash yarn for a strip across the middle of the hand.
That was less expensive and was very pretty. All her friends wanted to know where she got the 'cool' mitts, lol.

i've used the eyelash or fun fur yarn for making scarves for my daughter and myself a few years back when they were all the rage. it wasn't too bad, cuz that little skein went a long way. i agree tho, it would get expensive for bigger projects. and i knitted the scarves, have tried crocheting with the homespun yarn, and i don't like it, but love it for knitting.

I've used them to make small projects like hats or scarves. It only takes a couple of balls. If you do something open and lacy, you could probably make a shawl or capelet without it being a huge expense.
