There are too many of us thrift store/yard sale addicts around for any of us to think we don't have a life. To me there is nothing more enjoyable than a good day of bargain hunting. It's more than enjoyable, it's refreshing, relaxing, I'm saving money, and sometimes I am going to make money off my bargains too. The thrill of the hunt, and finding all those treasures. Some people think they are too good to buy 2nd hand stuff, not me. Most everything I own used to belong to someone else. But I'm smiling and very happy : ) Thanks for sharing with me.

Yes, I love them. Two reasons first-the price and the amount of money you can save. WIth a afamliy of 7, I need to conserve as much money as possible. Second- the idea of purchasing something that is not new, packaged, shipped, all of which has a huge impact on our environment. I feel like I am helping both myself and our world when I can buy recycled stuff.

Especially with a large family you have to find ways to save money. And this is a wonderful way to do just that. It has always been pretty tight in my home with money, but I never feel like I am deprived of anything. I buy really nice clothes I just don't pay a fortune for them. And no one knows the difference unless I tell them. Most cannot believe I bought it from a thrift store, or yard sale, or where ever I find it at. I also love to find furniture that way, to buy it new is very exspensive.

I am a garage sale junkie! I also love a bargain in any store! I really comb the stores after Christmas and around inventory time, because they tend to mark down to get rid of items quickly. Of course I have to "need" it, or know someone that would. I've already finished my Christmas shopping for this year (for the younger kids I buy for).
Just something about getting a $60 toy for $10 or less. It can be addicting!

Wow, you are ahead of the game aren't you? I haven't started on this next Christmas yet, but hope to soon. Well, I take that back, I do have a couple of kids toys already purchased at a wonderful price hid in my closet. When I go to a store, I always check the clearance racks, that's about the only reason I go to a store. I love when Penney's and Dillard's put their sales on, especially the 75% off sales. I just love a bargain.

I enjoy hunting for treasures in the thrift stores. I buy alot of clothes for the kids there and even books. I don't like paying the full price the kids grow out of them so quick. Saves alot of money time and hassle.

I buy almost all my own clothes at the thrift stores, I also buy for all the kids & grandkids too. I too am a book fanatic. My kids have enough books to have a private library for each of their households. But I still buy them, I don't ever pay full price for a book unless it's a special request as a gift. I've always dreamed of opening my own thrift store, who knows, maybe one day I will.

My husband and I are not fanatics but we love going to thrift stores and fleamarkets to buy books.
btw On april the 30th my entire country turns into one big open air fleamarket. On this day we celebrate our queen's birthday and since it is a national holiday most people use that day to get rid of their stuff in the attic and garage.
If you are really into this try to have a holiday in my country on april the 30th if you ever feel like travelling to Europe.

I did not know this about Europe. I will definitely keep that in mind. That must be wonderful and a great time for everyone to get in on the bargains. Thank you for letting me know about this.

I don't get around as much as I used to, so I can't say I"m hooked any more, but I used to love yard sales. I still do most of my shopping in thrift stores, and I'm lucky enough to have two good ones, and one very large excellent one within easy walking distance. I don't think I'll ever get over the thrill of a terrific bargain.

I won't either, I think once it's in your system it's there to stay. You are very fortunate to have more than one great thrift store. I have to drive a good ways to get to the ones I go to, but I still go. My mom has a huge one where she lives, and she knows everytime I come that I have to make a trip to the thrift store while I'm there.

Haha you know you are hooked when you get excited just from reading the title of your post! I don't really go to flea markets or thrift stores a ton, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE yard/garage sales! I am seriously counting down the days until they start. They usually start happening here around mid-May, and I am so excited! I go garage-saleing just about every weekend in the summer. I am very excited about that!

I too love the yard sales. But with my hubby's work schedule, I don't always get to get up and gone before everything is sold. But I do manage to make quite a few of them. I also like auctions, estate sales, etc. Thrift stores around here have great hours so it works better for me. Thanks for responding.

Me too. I am just thrilled for the hunt I guess. I can spend so much time just browsing. I find a lot of junk, but when I find a treasure I'm happy. A treasure to me is something I can use or someone else can use, that is in new or like new shape. Thanks for responding.

Last year I was like that. I was looking for stuff for my new house, and couldn't bring myself to pay thirty bucks for a 4-person dinner set at Wal-Mart when I could collect my own from goodwill for a dollar per setting!!! My kitchen is cute and colorful and actually pretty retro because of it. And we all know that's coming back in style. I didn't go one week without Goodwillin'. ACtually, I went several times a week there for a while when I was on that side of town for school anyways.

I used to be quite the addict of discount or vintage shopping. This was in the days before ebay got popular, when you could walk into a store and find a louis vuitton bag for a dollar and turn around and sell it on an online site for over $200. It seems that these days are over and thrift stores are much more picked over when it comes to the big name brands. I never find anything good anymore- people must be ebaying these things themselves or they're getting snatched up quicker.
I do love finding unique vintage items in these stores. People throw away some fabulous things. I especially love vintage detailed handbags. A lot of these bags are back in style (or will be soon) and I love being the first to have a trendy bag without spending more than $2 on it.

We have several "organized" thrift stores around here, and they are very much business like, and go through everything that comes in before putting it out for sale, but...there is one in the old downtown area of town, and when you go there you have to push your way through sometimes and just dig through the boxes, they put them out as they come in. That's where I find my treasures usually, and very cheap too. That and maybe yard sales. But you are so right, a lot of people have snatched up the valuable things for resell. My last purse I paid a quarter for.

I live in Southern California so there are a lot of really good flea markets and thrift shops I love flea markets I could spend all day in some of them they are so huge sometimes I get lost. As far a thrift shops go I really like buffalo exchange or places like that where they buy the clothes and resell them because they make sure all the products are name brand and in good shape before they buy them so you will only find the best stuff at these types of thrift stores.
