You need to have atleast 100 points to your side. (Those in the brackets aside your name). Then you are given rating depending on how many "best responses" you earned and also how many positive ratings you got.

The star saying how popular you are here. Or how you are rated by others. That is a kind of recognition. You get anything between 1-10, and the star rating is counted out of 100. You need to score at least 100 posts to get starred.
