I have been here five days and I have written almost 500 comments. Just today I was noticing that my spelling and my typing has improved. I don't correct quite as many errors as I was before. Also I am writing longer comments than when I first started. I want to be a writer, but I was always worried I was not good enough. I think mylots has helped me with my confidence as well. How about you? Do you think mylots has improved your life?

It is helping me a lot in my use of the English language, grammar, spelling and everything. I don't actually use english everyday, only when the situation demands like mylotting and talking to foreigners whenever I meet one.
I enjoy reading postings written by native english speakers and learn a lot from them. How I wish I could express myself the way you people do.
If my mylot helped you increase your confidence as good as you already are, the more it helped me. Cheers.

Wow, you do much better than many of my students whose native language is English! You must have studied very hard to be able to communicate as well as you do in English!

I think that overall, my spelling, grammar & writing are basically the same as before--though I do find myself double-checking what I type more, especially when I reply & post discussions...one thing that I try hard to do is proper use of "I" since I tend to type it in lowrcase usually in my attempt to type faster--hehe.....wish that I could spend more time her in mylot though...
you have a nice mylot day! =)

Wow- thanks so much for the best resposne, mssnow=)! Really such a happy surprise for me =)--& I just checked & I just mistyped lowercase-haha!!...
Yeah, it gets me too sometimes of how I have the tendency to just go on typing it without capitalizing "i"...I have a theory though, maybe it's because it's just one letter & it sometimes seems to be such a hassle to bother pressing the shift key for it! hehe...thanks again =) & have a wonderful day!! =)

I don't think that my writing skills have improved. I do find myself more cognizant of the fact that there are many grammar rules that I still do not understand. (I find myself wondering if I need a comma in a certain place etc) My typing skills have definitely improved! Great discussion, now we all know of some rationalizations that we can use to justify our time spent on myLot when others chastize us !

I don't really think it has improved much, if at all. Actually, I'm much less careful about spelling and grammar on MyLot than I am when I am truly writing. I think of MyLot as a big discussion pool or a large conversation, not a piece of formal writing. I'm actually less likely to use proper punctuation and grammar when I'm here!

No, worse, I get frustrated sometimes with the response time and don't even check.
I wish they had a spell check on here.A grammar check would be nice too, last night I found a question someone had posted, had no idea what they wanted. Maybe some of these checks would make the questions of better quality!

Hello,
Wow!! Its simply great. Not as such MyLot has improved my grammer and spellings but I used to feel it when I started using internet and used to send emails to my friends. My spelling and grammer has stopped growing.
My spellings and grammer got better by writing writing writng and readind reading reading. The more you study english, the more you get clearer. Also I keep reading grammer books to keep my knowledge updated.
Cheers

Mylot has definitely not improved my typing or english skills. Theyve always been good so no hassles there. What it has done is expose me to various people's views and ideas. It has been very informative on world happenings. So I would say my general knowledge of people has improved but not my writing/typing skills.

Well I'm not sure that I have a good answer. My typeing or spelling hasn't imporved I think but my worrying about it has. The more I type the less I worry about it. Great for my image huh?

I wouldn't say my spelling and grammar has got any better as I find I make a lot of mistakes in my rush to type what I want to answer but I have noticed that my typing speed has went up much faster then it was before .

Yes, mylot has really helped me in these areas. My typing speed is increasing day by day. My spellings have also improved and now I am using better grammer of English language. I am not an English basically and as English is an international language everyone must have enough knowhow of it for his or her servival in this global village. I made my mylot account about a week before but I do not find enough time for internet usage. Hope, mylot will progress much very soon.

Come to think of it, yes it has. Using the cellphone here at the TEXTING country has really dampen my spelling abilities. Yes, I believe mylot has done improvements for my writing even if my comments are not as long as I want them to be.

As you already know,to get good at something is to practise. To become great at it means to practise, practise practise!!When you do write, let it be for you to enjoy at first and then later you can write for the audience.
I am not sure whether MyLot has improved my life, but I do know it has changed aspects of it.Like yourself,I find my typing speed has increased.
I do wish you great success in your endevours and hope to be reading one of your many published works some day.

Although I have been a member of mylot for about two months but I'm just a sleeping member in the first month due to certain circumstances. Until the second month I only found out there are a lot of funs in reading others's discussions, comments and opilnions given by mylot friends. After responding discussion for about a month I found that I do make some improvements in spellings, making long sentences, typing, skills of using computer etc. Thanks to mylot friends and mylot which allows me to have funs and make improvement in various aspects.:)

I aswell want to be a writer, Though i've written so much every day in my life, leading myself up to that point that i think i've maxed my improvement... I have bad days sometimes with typint, grammar, spelling, and what not, but for the most part i still type the same.
It's great that people can feel better about the way they write just by using something long enough. It's great.
Congradulations, i hope it continutes to get better for you
Peace and love
Ash

500 comments in 5 days??? Wow....
I don't know that my typing has improved much, but I will say that I am getting better at just typing out a "stream-of-consciousness" response without having to think about it, or go back to check that I didn't just write garbled English. I think perhaps I am getting more accurate, since there's no spell check here.
