I met one in one of my discussions...but really what exactly is a powerseller? Does EBAY have to invite you, do you have to sell a certain amount, do you have to have a store, are you still charged fees, or do you have a flat fee? I'm really curious if there is an advantage to it. I occasionally sell items, but would consider taking it another step? Any info provided is awesome...thanks.

I was an ebay powerseller for a very short time - you have to have a certain amount of completed sales per month - I think the lowest level is $750 a month - but don't quote me on that. As far as advantages go - I believe you get quicker customer support if you are a power seller, and I know there are a few more perks, but I don't believe a cut in fees is one of them. You have to be invited to be a powerseller, and your feedback (again, not 100% sure on this) has to be at least 98% at all times.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Been real busy
looking for books to buy and sell. The other's are
pretty much right on, with a few exceptions.
It is at least $1,000 a month for three consecutive
months before you get a silly invite and a chance to
display the logo. The logo differs depending upon the
amount of monthly sales. Silver, gold, platinum, etc.
You can slip from month to month as long as a low sales
month is followed again by $1,000 or more.
Your feedback rating has to be 98% or better, period.
You don't have to own a store. That's something totally
different. A store comes with plenty of perks and price
breaks. You don't have to maintain a minimum either.
The perks you get as a PowerSeller are;
-PowerSeller Priority Support via 24/7 webform.
-Health care solutions information.
-Exclusive offers for PowerSellers as part of your
program benefits.
-Free PowerSeller Business Templates.
-PowerSeller discussion board.
You may also join ebay's Reseller Marketplace.
Here you can buy or bid on what are known as
"lots" of merchandise. For example; There may be
an auction for Motorola RAZR cell phones. They
are being offered at 20 units per lot. You are
bidding to win the 20 units as a whole. Some "lots"
of merchandise are offered at a fixed price.
These are usually offered by wholesalers,
retailers, (discontinued item) distributors,
manufactures, etc.
I just had two bad months due to what I believe
was the holiday season. I have just dropped from
the rank of PowerSeller but who knows if I'll be
back up in a month or two. Like we've all said it's
really no big deal.
My advice is not to think about this but rather
consider setting up a store if you sell enough
merchandise to warrant it. Also, depending upon
what you sell, if you use a lot of images think
about using either Vendio or Auctiva to host your
images.
Good luck.

No no, it really isn't. Don't worry about it.
Actually, selling on ebay can become quite
addictive once you see the profits rolling
in.
If you want to make money on ebay rather than
just sell occasionally, find a genre of items
that you can be passionate about. Make sure
it or they sell fairly well and jump in.
My first sale years ago was a 2 volume set of
the history of the Civil War ©1889. I bought them
for $36.00 and the hammer price was $91.00. I was
hooked from that moment on.

Hi Funnycole.. think that #1 and #2 covered most of it.... apart from you do have to keep your ebay account in goodstanding, you do have to achieve a minimum sales over a 3 month period(different in the UK maybe) in either cash value or quantity...it is by invitation only and apart from Ebay support(not really brilliant but better than nothing) there's the Powerseller forums.... which can be a lot more help than the standard forums.... oh and there's the odd social events, usually planned around PS in the same part of the country.... and yes I'm a Powerseller(on multiple usernames ). There's absolutely no changes to the fees BTW, of course you can claim merchant rate on Paypal if you turn over a certain amount per months which will reduce your Payapl fees a little.

I was also a Power Seller for a few months; you have to have sales of $1000 per month for 3 months, I think, with a 98% positive feedback. They will invite you and there is no real advantage, other than you can say you're a Power Seller. I can't remember there being any special perks, it's just a 'prestige' thing.
But, of course, if you're working that hard, it's nice to have it recognised.
