I have always had an interest in helping people and when I learned about computers I knew I had found a way to combine helping people and earning money, but...
I found that a lot of computer instructors were not people persons and they intimidated a lot of students so that those students didn't learn nearly as much as they could have learned.
I take a lot of pride that I have been praised up and down for my patience. The truth is that my teaching was very much tied into my ego and the more I helped people the better my self esteem was boosted.
How did you like your instructors and did you learn as much as they were teaching?

The most recent classes on computers that I have taken have relied heavily on text books. I found this method to be much more useful for me, because I could go back and review all the steps involved in each process until I got it right. You are right about most computer instructors not being "people persons". I think that many technically-minded folks are much more interested in technology than people; that's why they are so successful in the technical world.
