Depends on how young they are or how responsible they are. If they're too young, then definitely not.

Like the poster before me said it would have to depend on the age. I really would not leave my eight year old alone. I would find it irresponsible to do so. I trust her but I just could not bring myself to do it.

hi there, i would if they were quite grown up, knew how to cook and other things and were mature enough but with my daughter she's on 1 years old, i would never ever leave her in the house on her own even if it meant me going to the shop on the corner of my road just incase something bad happened to her!

Never! they would have to be over the legal age to be left alone but I would not leave the older children to look after the younger. Although I do not have children I think they are too precious to be left at the risk of injury from an irresponsible elder child. I am talking leaving a 13 year old with a younger sibling thats irresponsible. Leaving a younger child with a 16 year old who has proved their responsible thats responsible. I would never leave a child with a young 16 year old baby sitter either unless I knew them extremely well and my children where happy to stay with them.

i definitely would not leave my kids alone in the house even if it was only 5 minutes. you never know what could happen while you're out. I know that kids have a way of getting into things while you're home, so they would get into them more if you were out, even if it was only a few minutes. Also, there's the chance of someone breaking in while they are in there alone or fire or anything
