How many books do you read in a month? or in a year?

I loved reading as a kid; my Mom would have to check on me at night to make sure I went to sleep instead of reading with a flashlight. But now, I seems like I never read at all. I am either working or feel that starting a book would be too much of a "time commitment" and then I turn around and waste time surfing the net or watching TV. Do you still read as much as you used to?

I have always loved reading, I normally read things on the net more than an actual book. I keep a book on my nightstand and read each night before drifting off to sleep. It takes me about a month or more to finish a book, depending on the size and how tired I am. I usually fall asleep after about half an hour or so of reading. To me it is the perfect ending to my day. I used to finish a book a weekm (or less) when I was a youth. Now with the responsibilites of being an adult, I just don't have the time.

I love reading books especially if it's something I am interested in learning about. I know a lot of people surf the internet and get the information they need. I do that a lot too! But , I really do enjoy curling up with a book and reading. It's more relaxing and less distracting.... I can't seem to stand one window open on the computer..I always feel the need to multitask, LOL

LOL...I was distracted...I read at least 3-4 books per month. Mostly relating to genealogy or history.

I try to read at least 5 decent long books a year. Although i don't often finish them because i have better things to do. I love reading but only when i'm 100% well and 100% calm which is hard when your wife wants you every five minutes! joking a side, i should read more. I surf the net way more than i do reading books and it's the same for tv. ~Joey

Not including things read for school, I probably read about 5 or 6 books a year. I know, not much, but it always seems like when I start reading a book, my free time for it seems to disappear. I wish I had more time to read though because I love doing it. It's a great hobby and it's also a great way to learn about things you might not learn about in a classroom.

I've read a lot more books now than i ever did when i was younger. I have a bit more time on my hands, being a SAHM, and because my son and I like going to the library, i now have a chance to read a lot more books during my spare time. I also joined a online book club but that got too expensive so I decided to stick with the library. The next time you have "time to yourself" drop by a library and check out the "new fiction" section - you won't be dissapointed.

Yeah, libraries are great. I did the online club once, too, but I prefer being able to read part of the book before getting it (especially if I have to pay for it!). I am more likely to take a chance on a book from the library since it is free, if I don't like it, I haven't lost anything.

I'm not a reader. Have never finished any book really unless I needed it for school. I wish I had more time to read though.

Wow, I don't think I ever met anyone who actually skipped school to read! You must really love books. And 5 books a month is really darn good compared to many.

I am not much of a reader, it is something that I didn't enjoy doing at school much. So I guess it is something that has followed me as I have grown up. Although I will sit down and help my children out with their books to try and encourage them as much as possible.

I loved reading as a kid too. But I have slowed down a bit now. Between work, hubby, and kids I don't have the time for it like I used too. I think I have gotten a little pickier then when I was a kid. I stick mainly to the authors I enjoy and the subject matter that I like. I used to read anything I could get my hands on.

I LOVE to read! I try to keep a book in the bag I use the most incase I get a chance to peak at it. I did this when I worked too. It was thee best idea! I started reading when I was 4 years old. During the summer when my friends wanted to play they were upset at times cause sometimes I just wanted to READ AND READ! Thats why I love to write! I know they go HAND in HAND! I try to read and complete a book every few weeks or more than one book. Some books I draw out reading them only when I can which could take forever. Others I inhale quickly and fast as I can! Since school been harder to get into my books as much but I am TRYING to do it all. I love memoirs cause I am learning about all kinds since I am working on one. I read a few fiction and some other types of non-fiction. Writing books too! Sometimes teen books. I am ready Eragon but not always reading it since I got it before I saw the movie. Its a good good book but a bit thick :)) yes and I worked for a bookstore for 4 years and trying to get hired at one again. I used to spend half my checks or more on books *L* ;)

When I was still single, I used to read 1 book a week. But now that I'm married and have 2 kids, reading is a luxury. Books is no longer in my list, good books are always expensive, I have to prioritize my family's need. But given time and money, I would go back to reading.

I have the same problem with you.Every time when I sit in front of the computer,it is hard for me to read books then.Though I realize it is not good to surf net too often and I have a lot of things to do,a lot of books to read,it is really difficult for me to get away.I always hope that I can have a healthy way to live and can get down to some professional books through the winter vocation.I made schedule for myself every day,but it is hard to complete.Do you have a good way to get out of this problem?
