Ok, here goes..who out there belives that corporal punishment is the way to go? Why do you agree that it should be done, or why not?
I mean it in the way of when you really do something wrong, rape, torture, killing someone or something...so if you rape someone, you are then raped the exact way that you did it, you kill someone, you get death coming to you exactly as you have done to another person or animal. I honestly think that maybe this would scare people away from these horrible crimes instead of putting them all into jail where they are fed, taken care of, they get playstation games, quit smoking drugs..etc etc. It's a big friggin playhouse in jail! I believe that if you have done something bad enough to be put in jail, then you should suffer and not waste the taxpayer's hard earned money! Let them rot!

I think that they should have to do something to earn their keep, and something that gives back to society. Something they wouldnt find pleasent doing. There are some sick people in this world, and i am no where near creative enough to think up things that all the weirdo's should have to do when they commit a crime, but i do think that they should have different sentences for different crimes, and different work they should have to do according to what they ahve done. say a rapist is caught and he raped 3 women before he gets caught, then he should have to listen in to a group of women who've been raped, obviously they shouldnt be able to see him, so maybe just hear them, and feel their pain, and hear what they do to these people. and then physical punishment on top of that, like paving hiways for free or something like that. but i guess it would be easier for them to escape if we had some kind of punishment like that set up.

Hey, thanks for responding. Great ideas for sure..most people in jail for rape would hate to hear the emotional torture that other's go through, and some won't mind at all..those are the ones that need to just be shot as far as I'm concerned. As for paving highways etc. I think that some countries have that system set up, but they are highly guarded. Hey, if they are still doing it, it must work out for the most part :) Thanks again.

I like this topic, first regarding corporal punishment, yes I honestly support it. However i don't fully agree with its "PLAYHOUSE" in jail. I'm from the Philippines, you wouldn't imagine how our city jails here are. They are so cramped and damp that people really die inside just because they stay there due to disease or riots. We have cells that have 50 people inside when its just designed to hold 4 people. It depends where you are. just an FYI.

i am big believer in corporal punishment. I mean i am okay with the lethal injection, i really don't mind how they die as long as they get them out of the prisons and stop wasting my tax money. it will stop the over crowding and it will help with the national budget too because then they can use some tax money for other things.

my concept about punishment is different that is the reason for the crime should also be considered and the human behavior should not be neglected.... we are not machines... some people get more angry,,, some people get less angry.... so emotions and feeling should also be considered... and punishment should be given not only on what one has done but also on many other factors should be considered....

I donĀ“t agree corporal punishment reminds me of a third world jail or a gone era jail, we live in the xi century and those practices are obsolete I would say that they should put to work for the county like cleaning streets, that sounds better for me.

I agree that as taxpayers we are paying way too much to house, cloth and feed the animals you are speaking of. I do not agree that they should get the same punishment of the crime they committed. My honest belief is that if they are found guilty by a jury of their peers then they should be taken out on the courthouse steps and drawn and quartered like in the old days. It would cut down on a lot of the crimes that we see popping up and make people think before they act on their agressions or desires. At the very least put them in a cell where they get a bowl of watered broth and a piece of bread a day and never see the light of day again. No amenities or luxuries!! That in itself is more than some children around the world are getting everyday. Okay I'll come off the soap box now.

Yes, PS2's and all the luxuries make it a great place to go. The reason (in studies) that most people end up back in jail is because there is no training inside, they are not prepared to enter the real world again, and some have no homes to go back to, therefore, they commit a crime, get sent back and are fine with that. There are some that kill themselves because what is outside that fence is unknown to them anymore. They are scared to enter society. They have halfway houses set up, but no real outside/reality check. Some are indeed out to reform themselves, to work hard to get what they once had, or once dreamed of, but unless we give them something to look forward to, they will only go back in. And I know that my last opinion clashes with my corporal punishment one, but in my reality, I know that the corporal punishment just isn't going to happy, so I'm thinking of things to do here and now. Thanks so much for responding.

I believe prisoners should be treated with compassion and have decent living quarters that don't breed ill health, and I don't really see anything wrong with TV or video games to occupy their time. They are all God's children who made mistakes that put them there, and there are a lot of innocent people in jail who were framed or didn't have the resources to get the proper defense.
Prisons should be about rehabilitation, and many people have earned high school and college degrees while incarcerated, which gives them a better chance when they are released. The problem is often that they go back to the same home, friends, and lifestyle which drags them back down again. Ex-cons need a good support system when they are released if they are going to make it in society.
There are some violent convicts who should not be returned to society, and it's true that some don't know how to live in a free society after being in prison for so long. That is sad. They should be required to work inside the prison to help pay for their upkeep, but the other prisoners should be protected from the violent ones, the only option may be to just keep them segregated.

I believe in corporal punishment, because the world is out of control, and to regain control we have to start at the bottom and that is parents, raising a child, if the parents were held accountable, and by that I mean financially and legally responsible for their children's actions, then children would be taught, 1 if you break a rule or regulation, not only will you be held responsible but you parents will be as well. 2 That punishment be public and demeaning. crimes and punishment against the community be judged by the community. That pride and respect are taught from birth as well in the schools, and every one that breaks the rules suffers a loss. if you are not allowed to gain knowledge because you were not respectful of the school system and had to work at the lowest paid job for the rest of your life you would make sure that you did what was expected of you.Can you imagine the attitude change if you knew that if you broke the rules you would have to pay for it the rest of your life. Because this is what is going on now people are paying for stupid things they did but no one taught them this is what you will be, if. The laws now are a joke, and the punishment is even a bigger joke. We the law abiding citizens are paying well over a hundred thousand dollars every year to incarcerate one person that he or she thought was going to get away with their crime. They are they ones that are housed fed, medically looked after, and they say their civil rights are being trampled on, PEOPLE what is wrong with this picture. They are supposed to be there to be punished, to learn that they do not have the right to break the law. It almost makes breaking a law the right thing to get looked after for the rest of your life and not have to pay for it, so we are the ones that are punished because these people have done harm to us and now we have to support them for doing it, Bring back Corporal Punishment and enforce it
