Is Valentine's Day too commercial? Do you believe, as I do, that the whole concept behind the day should be celebrated every day, and not just once a year? What are you doing for V-day this year? Anything special?

it is way to commercial but everything is nowadays anything for stores to make more money! valantines day is also our wedding anniversary (we eloped and it hapened to be the next friday) so we dont go out on the 14th. it is alway so crowded everywhere so we just stay at home and spend time with each other while our kids are at my mother-in-laws. i usually get sam a little somthing and and i get myself somthing from him because he never goes shopping. besides its so much easier than hinting and whining about stuff. guys hate to shop, its a givin'. we tell each other i love you all the time. it doesnt mean any more on that one day i do get something for my kids though it wont be for much longer because i have two boys. there isnt much for boys valentines day gifts for boys. except candy. like they dont get enough all through the year. lol!

I think that goes to say about every holiday. I agree that the concept should be celebrated everyday but I think a lot of times were too busy to take the time to do so. That's why I like the special day set aside each year to do it just incase you haven't been able to do it all year. We're not doing anything special this year. Just staying at home. I've got him a little something and I'm planning on cooking him the dinner of his choice. As of right now he's got to work 12 hours that day and the day before.

I think commercialism has destroyed the oroginal meaning of many of our celebrations, that includes Christmas.

I hav'nt normaly celebrated valintines day before as i have never had anyone to celebrate with. This was untill 2 years ago when my bf and i started to go out. The first valintine i had so i went all out bought a basket and filled it with stuff he needed and a box of roses chocolates. In the last 2 yrs my bf only got me a valintines day card wich doesnt bother me at all. We never go out to dinner as too expensive. Soi kind of celebrate and kind of don't.

yes its WAY too commercial now, just like christmas. My husband and I just stay home and cuddle. We don't go out for dinner because it's just too sickening.
