Do you sit close/cuddle as a family or sit apart not touching?

When we sit to watch a movie or tv show we generally sit touching each other, or cuddling together. Our boys are 11 and 13 but they still are accepting of touch/contact when we are sitting together on the sofa. We can lean up against each other, put our feet in each other laps, etc.
Are you and your kids or family this way or do you prefer to sit near but not touching while watching a movie or show?

We are a very cuddly family, which is nice. My husband didn't grow up in a household that was very affectionate, but he loves to get close and cuddle with me and our daughter has always liked to snuggle in between us, especially when we're watching a movie or tv show together. I think it's a great family bond to have.

mine was the opposite - I grew up in a family that never touched, hugged or expressed their feelings. I never remember seeing my mom or dad argue or kiss. My hubby grew up in a large Italian family who were always hugging, kissing and hanging on to each other ~ even though they'd yell and scream at each other, it always ended up with a hug or kiss and live would go on.
It was so strange to me when I met his family, but I have grown to love it and it is now so natural for me with our kids - I'm glad we all have that in our family - it does make a difference. Thanks for responding!

I read your discussion topic and all the rest of the responses - I can feel my heart aching. I hope you all realise how blessed you are to have this bonding with your family to be able to snuggle up to each other, hugging and kissing or even just to put your head on someone's lap or shoulder. I never experienced that in my family. I grew up in fear of my mom, and I shy away from her touch because she hit me quite abit when I was young. My dad is also not the 'touching' kind of person partly I suppose due to his own upbringing. They show affection in the things they do for each other but not in words or touch. My brother, sister and myself have never shared a hug or snuggled up to each other. Even putting our arms over each other's shoulders is foreign to us. But I've always envied families where touching comes so naturally. I have started it with my neice and nephew though and am encouraging my sis to do so because I believe in the power of touch.

Usually it's either Gerard with Moo or me with her. Gerard and I can't exactly fit on the couch together, especially with a growing belly.. but we make it! Lol. He's usually napping while we're watching t.v. Since he work overnights. I love kissing on Kelsey and Gerard. We wrestle and play.. a lot of contact is in our family.

I am 20 years old but I still cuddle my mom alot. I can still remeber when I was younger I always want to get sick since my mom would let me sleep in their bed (she lets my dad sleep in the other room.. LOL) and would hug me all night. I love that feeling. Until now I still do.

My family sit close.
of course we don't all cuddle but we do have moments where we hug. my wife and i and our little boy always cuddle. he normally pushes me away! i'm not joking.
he thinks i'm trying to take her away from him and he often pinches or crys. sometimes he's cool overall he prefers 'em to be single hugs.
Kudos!

My oldest one doesn't want to get too close. (He's sixteen) but he finds reasons to wrestle or play in other physical ways with me and his siblings. Occasionally his dad too. My eleven year old and my eight year old still cuddle a lot. I love it. Most of the time anyway. Sometimes I feel like I'm on the bottom of a football pile.

Well, sometimes we will cuddle and others we will be sitting apart. For example in the living room I'm usually sitting at the computer and my kids will be watching tv on the couch. My daughter is a real cuddly kid and always wants to be hugged and cuddled and she's 11! I hope she stays that way but the teen years are fast approaching. I have a tv in the bedroom and my hubby and I will cuddle when we're watching it. Most of the time we are pretty cuddly :o)

We totally snuggle together! My kids are so cuddly, they always want to sit with Mama or Dada. I love having my kids right with me when we watch shows. And the cat is usually right on our lap too!
