Should ministers be paid a monthly salary?

Doesn't this lessen the meaning of "service to God" which is supposed to be sacrificial in nature. Should they just live by faith and rely on the goodness of the members of the flock?

Maybe, not salaries but in the form of allowances. For when we talk of salaries, there are certain laws that needed to be satisfied such as the minimum wage and its multiplying effects on wage-related benefits :) The sect needs these ministers...not everyone are qualified to be like them, so I think it is but proper that their efforts are at least compensated, but in a not so extravagant manner.

Speaking or qualifications, some ministers spent not less than 6 years to finish a course in ministry although there are some sects who ordain ministers who don't have proper training or schooling.

Thank you for that added info.

In my church, we have married priests, so it would be unfair not to pay them, since they have to provide for their families, who after all have not chosen to be - for example - the children of a minister. Also, in poor parishes it might be hard for the parishioners to support the minister fully. I think you have to be realistic.

It's just that some people don't want the idea of the ministry being a "paid job" so permanent salaries doesn't sound right for them. They have a way of supporting their ministers but not on a monthly salary basis. Well, after all, the issue can only be semantics. Ministers have needs and the parishioners should see to it that they are met and provided for by the parishioners.
