Seriously.. Why don't teenagers just take the time to use correct english instead of shortening everything and ghettofyiing it? There are some posts on here that I really have a hard time understanding!
What is WRONG with using a full, correct word??
How is it even possible to have a txt conversation this way?
..sorry, I had to rant about this.
Am I the only adult bugged by this? I'm 25 years old and have never used this type of lingo.
I find myself using "cuz". I'm guilty of that. And only that.

Oh my I know what you are talking about. I got a message the other day that I could not understand because the person did not use proper English. It was full of "dis" and "dat" "dey", I'm mortified (English Teacher). I have even told said person to use proper English if she wants to discuss something with me.

oh man. Never saw "dey". haha, that's just downright embarrasing.
I started college a little over 3 months ago and am surrounded by teenagers. I have no idea how they're able to hold a text conversation this way. you have to do some serious decoding to understand what's beiing said.
..and they must think we're nerds for typing out a whole word.

Yes I agree I do not understand the ghetto talk and wish it would end but I think sadly, that it is only getting worse and worse. Mylot should try to limit this in this type of forum..maybe someone should bring it up to them? or will they view it as knitpicking?

I'm not sure if it'd be viewed as knitpicking.. bad words aren't tolerated..and the deformation of proper english language should be a part of that rule.
it's kinda sad when these people actually want advice and post something like that.. because I, personally, would like to give advice but have given up on tryig to decipher what they want to say.
ah well..

I'm guessing it's because shortening words is a time saver, common in texting (bcuz it cost less when you're charged per letter), and they don't have to worry about being embarrassed by their poor spelling.
I do agree that it's annoying in a forum like this. They should save it for instant messages and texting.

Yeah, it is true that it is annoying reading messages with shortcut text. I really don't like it. Even in my cell phone, I don't used shortcut text messages, I used the correct form of sentence and proper spelling. I did this because I am afraid that the receiver will misinterpreting my message.
