Dogs noses are not covered by hair so the skin there is more susceptible to irritants and allergies. He may be allergic to something. Try some A & D ointment or zinc oxide on his nose, but make sure it is not toxic. I used to use zinc oxide (the think white stuff people use for sunburns) on my Weimeraner's nose to help protect from sunburn, suggested from my vet.

Perhaps your dog sniffed something not nice and he is trying to get rid of the smell by vigorous scratching. Why don't you try this the next time you bathe your dog. Boil guava leaves then let it cool.Use the water where you boiled the guava leaves as the rinsing wash of your dog.

ooo. try to keep his mind off his nose. dogs have a high tolerance for pain and skin irritations, so if you destract him then that will stop him for a little bit. make sure his nose is mosturized. their nose needs to be wet. also try to avoid getting any shampoo or anything on his nose while bathing him, unless he has a real bad odor problem you probably dont need to bathe him that much. the shampoos can really irritate dogs skin (especially flea killing kinds). if it persists for a long time he really needs to go to a vet, some vets have cheaper rates. i would try to call the humane society to see if they know of any vets. also try to call the vets or humane society and tell them what is going on. sometimes vets will give you advise over the phone. good luck and best wishes to your dog
