I read a deck of cards that I always thought were full of Christian symbols. I don't pretend to prophesy the future, but I try to read the crds for awareness of what's happenning in my inner life and what I need to concentrate more on in regards to spirituality. It seems that reading the cards brings me closer to God, but now I'm worried if this is a trick that Satan is playing on me? I'm not a bad person and I do read the bible and try to love my neighbour and not commit sins and leave the future up to the will of God, but please tell me what you think of the fact that I do like to read my Tarot cards.

We can do anything we want and God will not at all interfer. However "reading the cards brings me closer to God" is not true and this is certainly the trick of Satan. Reading the Holy Bible will bring you closer to God and never Tarot cards. God speaks to us thru the Holy Bible and we speak to God thru our prayers.
Reading Tarot cards is an indication that we lack faith in God, that we do not fully rely in God, that we do not trust God. Pls remember also that God is a jealous God and He wants us to make Him no. 1 in our hearts. Instead of reading His Word, you devote your time to reading your Tarot cards, what would you expect of God? Naturally, if God is your husband, he might yell at you.:)

that is so not true! I'm sorry but if doing readings for herself is benefitting her life and how she lives it and is giving her a stronger faith in her path and god then how could that possibly be a bad thing? She never said, that I recall, that she's turned away from the bible in any way shape or form...sounds to me like using the cards is ENHANCING her faith which is fabulous IMO..and like I said, I think god would be pleased that she is doing all she can to bring herself closer to him and to her inner self....

I have to admit it is bringing me closer to the Bible. There are certian cards that speak of stories in the Bible like the Tower of Babel and Judgement Day, which have put me directly on the path to the Bible learnings. I guess what I am nervous about is the fact that also in the Bible it says that sorcery is evil. I understand sorcery to be trying to make things happen, ie-putting spells on someone, or trying to make my will happen as opposed to God's will. Tarot reading isn't like that. At least to me, bu tI'm interested in knowing what you all think.

Tarot cards are not "of the devil" thats just silly. if reading the cards helps you raise your awareness of goings on in your life and your spirituality..then read the cards.
its not like you read the cards and do something cruel or mean to someone and then say "the tarot cards told me to" right?
then dont worry about it, your trying to be the best person you can be and if using the cards helps make you feel more sure of yourself and your life..then by all means read the cards.

Thats completely up to you..IMO I think god would be pleased that you are working on your inner self which is very important if you want to be more concerned with the world around you and its ppl ya know...You say it brings you closer to god...well isnt that a good thing? dont you think he'd be happy about that?
Also, in case you didnt know, there are actually Tarot Decks SPECIFICALLY for Christians so if thats not the type you have then maybe looking into those would be a good idea

I just think that if it is a trick of the devil, why isn't it doing more harm than good in my life?

No, i dont think reading Tarot cards in wrong to according to God and the Bible because it's only up to you if you rely on what this cards are saying. I think, it's only a guide for us but it doesn't mean that what you have read on the card will really reflect your future. It's the same that your future relies on your hand and with faith and trust to our God..

Don't worry, you are not the only person who thinks that way. I was in the same plight too, however, I feel that reading tarot cards is just like a psychological theraphy. Specially when you are down and troubled and you never wanted to share the personal matters that come into your life. With the help of tarot cards it shows as if its not the end of the rope. It helps you uplift your spirits. Just like the saying goes "in every dark clouds there is a silver lining." So no matter how dark the clouds you are in when you know that there is a silver lining ahead, you continue to fight and go on struggling with what you call... life. Reading tarots makes you know what step to take ahead. Most of time it works wonders.

Let me tell you this. It IS NOT the lack of faith that makes Tarot cards sinful. It is the use of it itself. Tarot Cards is the same thing as fortune telling, pychics, etc. Even witchcraft goes into this category. Any type of magic is evil. They are all connect to the devil (I'm not 100% sure how, but if you read the bible carefully im 100% there is a passage that says that practicing magic is sinful. Listen. Tarot cards do NOT bring you closer to God. It is Satan playing around with you. He wants you to deceive you, which he is doing successfully. So I tell you now to stop.

LOL, that is pretty funny..
Noooo, Tarot have to work with ur own intuition. It has nothing to do with nothing bad or evil. So know your safe. I deal with the paranormal and tarot cards. Ill tell you its starts with your own energy. So dont worry. The church always wanted to scare people for no reason.

It depends on how literal you take the Bible and how literal you take the Tarot cards. : )
In my opinion, a god who is offended by a parlor game is a rather insecure god.

There is nothing wrong with reading cards . If this brings you closer to God then that is a good thing . Everyone see's something different when they read the cards so it is possible you were meant to see something that you believe in very much . Too me this sounds like a very good thing as it is bringing you closer to God by doing this and that is always a good thing .
Satan has nothing to do with the cards . If you read up on the meaning of the cards you will see that they are there to help guide us in our life . The cards are guiding you closer to a better relationship with God .

I am sure that you will hear lots of different views. I will give you mine. A bit of background - I am a Christian but I used to practice witchcraft and read cards etc.
Please for your own good get rid of those cards. I don't care how accurate they think they are it is a trick! Satan is a deceiver and can do just about anything that God can do. He presents himself as an angel of light to trick you into thinking you are 'hearing' from God.
Also the bible warns against tarot cards and other forms of divination.
As far as "Christian" symbols on the cards - the cards existed before Christianity did. When Christianity was spreading Emperor Constantine 'adopted' Christianity for Rome. Constantine was a pagan and so he incorporated pagan symbols into Christianity to attract more pagans. He even changed the Sabbath from Saturday (as Jesus and his followers observed) to Sunday to honor the sun god Ra.

The bible makes it clear in more than one place not to seek familiar spirits. In Levitius 19: 31 says turn not to the meduims who have familiar spirits or to wizards, do not seek them out to be deviled by them, I am the Lord your God.
It talks about things like this all through the bible. When reading these cards is like playing with the Ouija boards. Your messing around with familiar spirits. They may seem harmless for awhile. But remeber satan diquises himself as an angel of light.

I am a Christian and I believe that there is nothing wrong with reading tarot cards but only if its JUST FOR FUN... because once you start believing in them and letting them guide your spiritual life i believe the devil is trying to deceive you into thinking that it is better than God...
so my advice to you would be to just read them occasionally for fun otherwise if you're getting addicted to them and letting them guide your spiritual life over God and His Word, then u should stop.
i hope this was helpful !! .. if so pls rate !!
thanks for starting an intersting discussion !!
take care !!

Acorrding to the bible and god everything can be looked at a sin. It is all in how you read it. I wouldn't worry about it. If you are a good person then everything should be fine. Besides reading cards is just for fun, they never really come true or have any merit with anyhting that happens in life. So if it makes you happy and you feel it makes your life better then just go right on doing it.

Friend,
The greatest trick of Satan is how he convinces others he doesn't exist. The advasery uses things like these to lure people away. It always starts with one thing that takes us to another. When you accept something like Tarot cards it becomes easier to accept something else along it's lines that may be more extreme. The Tarot cards aren't of God, they are of man.
God will give you insight if you ask for it. He'll do a much better job helping you than Tarot cards ever will.

Thanks for your comment. I just am not sure that my use of the cards is luring me away from God though. I'v been reading them and looking at them on and off for over 20 years and 20 years ago I never even thought about God or religion, and now, I am becoming more and more interested and open to the teachings of the Bible. I am definately not putting the Tarot cards first above God. It is something that I do once every few months. Currently I am reading a good book about the symbols in the Tarot cards. Also I found out that the man who designed my deck of cards was a Christian so this makes me feel better.

I don't know if I would accept a God who punishes His children. God loves us, no matter what we do or do not do. To him everyone is equal. But we, sometimes think that we are not really deserving of the love of God so we punish ourselves.
I can see no reason why reading the Tarot has anything to do with Satan. It is a way of divining the future. A tool to see beyond what the eyes can see. If using a telescope to see the stars is a sin, then surely, Tarots are sinful. But I can't see why looking through a telescope or reading through a Tarot is against God. One is just looking far into the distance, another is looking ahead in time.

Reading of tarot cards means that's what you're putting your faith in. You are giving another person the authority to rule your life. God says for us not to confer with witches nor to worship His creation and that rebellion is as witch craft.
Also the Bible says that our foot steps are ordered by the Lord and He delights in everyone of them. And if they are ordered by the Lord then how can we understand our way. That also means that we walk my faith not by sight.

Friend , I do not believe that this has to do
nothing with “satanic” subjects nor of that style, dates account that the egizianas letters of tarot (investigalas), that were of first, estan full of Hebrew symbols, that are Jewish symbols;), from my humble point of view I believe that, which in fact bothers God, they are the bad actions, not which you play or not with the tarot, veil as well as an ENTERTAINMENT not like a ritual or nothing of that…

i dont read tarot cards personally and in my expeience i thought they were more accurate if they were read for you by somebody else.
i do not think its a sin to read them and i dont think that god will see it as a bad thing.
