Muslims: Do you think Christians should die?

I can't count the number of times here on myLot that I've seen Christians saying that Muslims think that everyone outside their religion should die.
Now, I live in an area with a large Muslim population. There's a huge Mosque just up the road from me. Many of the stores I shop in have Muslim proprietors and employees. Many of my neighbors are Muslim. None of them have ever expressed a wish to kill me for being a Christian.
Are there ANY Muslims here who feel that way or is it an American myth?

There are some Christians who will say that Muslims are wrong to feel that way, but feel justified in killing as many Mulims (or anyone they choose) as they can in vengeance for 9/11 whether they were involved or not. I don't believe in vengeance myself, but for those who do, they have no room to complain about Muslims feeling the same way.

If someone say that outside their religion should die meaning they don't have any religion beliefs at all. Because no religion tell us to kill each other. We always tell to defend our religion and place it in first guide of life.

Yes, I've never known anyone of any religion who said that their God expected them to kill everyone who wasn't that same religion. I believe that there are a few people who abuse religion and try to make people believe that's what their religion teaches, but that's the exception, not the rule. We shouldn't judge a religion by those who abuse it.

Friends I have read he comments of all participents. First of all we need to understand the Philosophy of this religion (Islam).
Islam is an Arabic word it mean "Peace".
Islam teaches us to fight against cruel people/nation to save the Innocent people/nation (Either Muslim or non muslim)
Some times our Prophet taken the decision against the muslim during his judgement because he was wrong and take the decision in the favour of non muslim (Jew or christian) because he was right.
So Islam is the religion to protect the right and to war against wrong.
Fight against wrong person even he is ur brother, father or son.
Save the lives of people who are innocent even they do not belong from ur tribe or nation or religion.

I really enjoyed reading this exchange. I have to tell you that it actually gave me a momentary feeling of peace inside to see these two relating to each other in this way. I wish we could see more of it in the world. Thanks.

I would really hope that is not the case. I am so sorry, because those are not the Christians I thought I knew!
I am not Christian (I am renouncing it from this moment on)
but I am not Muslim either.
I cannot be a part of anything that wants to kill!
what is going on here?
Muslims have always been good peaceful people!
Christians have always been good peaceful people!
this is a sad day, for me.

Lunerian,
You should do a bit of historical research. The Crusades were Europe's reaction to Moor imperialistic ambitions.
Like all wars ever fought on this planet, the Crusades were all about the aspirations of one group to dominate resources and subjugate peoples who are different from themselves. And, it wasn't the European's who were looking to dominate!!!

I am not a muslim but my bf is and I am pretty sure that he doesn´t wanna kill me =)
Islam is really a peaceful religion and I am sure that Allah would not approve of all the terrorists bombing in his name.
Islam is a way of life and if you read the quaran you will see that the religion is alot like the christian one , just different names and places!

Surely it is nothing but stereotyping and propaganda. There are 100's of millions of Muslims globally and only an extremely small percentage would have the desire to cause unrest and murder and mayhem in the name of their religion.
Every religion on this planet is open to misinterpretation and can be manipulated to suit an individual's or a group's cause. History has proven this time and time again.
I have had a very limited exposure to Muslims; and now that I am living and working in India are interacting with many. There are three or four Mosques within two kilometre4s of me. I have never experienced a single issue with any of them and don't expect to. They appear to be a highly disciplined, faithful people that are just living their lives like each and every one of us. This is obviously contrary to what I had been led to believe but reality always overrules perception!

Islam didn't teach its follower to be a killer my friend. It teach the follower to be friendly and be a good person with another religion follower and enjoy the live together in peace and happy. Its also didn't force other people to convert as a moslem. But if you think Islam is the best you are welcome to be one of the moslem brother or sister.Visit here for you information and knowledge

beautifulceiling, you mention your Muslim community, nearby Muslim mosque, Muslim stores and Muslim neighbours, yet despite living in the midst of this, you do NOT mention any Muslim friends.
This isn't a criticism. It's more of a reflection on the sadness I feel that I don't have any close friends from that community either. That we can live right in the middle of a culture we don't understand and come here to a message board to learn more about it.
I read far more negativity, here and in other media, towards Muslims than from Muslims. That makes me sad too. This whole topic has been of great interest to me, I've enjoyed reading what everyone has to say, the opinions have been very balanced. Thank you for raising it.

And thank you for your comments.
You are right that I didn't mention any Muslim friends. To tell you the truth, the only socializing I really do, other than online, is in the course of my daily life. I talk to people at school or when I'm out at the store or whatever, but I'm really quite a recluse and don't get together with anyone other than family. It's just not my thing. If I were a more social creature I would have no problem at all hanging out with Muslims. In fact, when my daughter was little, we lived (in another town) down the road from a Muslim family and she played with their two little girls all the time.

I'm Muslim myself and don't believe anyone outside of the Islamic religion should die. The Qu'ran teaches peace and love. Sadly there are some religious fantatics out there that believe others not of the same faith should die... but in my own personal opinion they have strayed too far from the path of God.
I could say the same about Christians wanting Muslims to die... They single out people just because they look different and instantly label them as wanting to cause harm to others. I've seen it happen. I've even had a friend of mine who was so worried about being discriminated against for a job that he had his name changed legally.
Personally I'd say it's not a myth... but paranoia.
But as someone I know once said on the subway to those staring... "I'm a Muslim! Booga booga booga!"

It is frightening. My husband is Muslim and he is afraid to go to the local Mosque for fear of being labeled. He tells people at work he is a Unitarian. In a country that is founded on the principle of Freedom of Religion - this is the biggest shame of all.

Actually I believe everyone is realize that all religions are teaching a good things, never bad things. In Holy Qur'an book there is no mention that christians should die and I am absolutely sure that also in the bible there is no mention any bad things , cause as moslem we believe that GOD make this world with different religions, country, ras, and many different thing just because for let us know and let people get to know each others so the unity can come true

I think God never teaches bad things, but I do believe that sometimes people use religion to teach bad things. However, this is done with Christianity just as much as anything else. But if we truly follow God, we won't kill each other. That I do agree with.

First, lets examine the efficacy of a poll like this:
1-Someone isn't going to come out and admit they are racist/religionist
2-People with a computer and internet access aren't likely part of the group of more controversial Islamic interpretations, such as places in the Middle East.
3-This is a volunteer only poll, so the results will be strongly skewed.
Lets put it this way, there are many Muslims who admittedly hate Christians and Jews, and there is definately support for this belief in the Koran. Just like you can cherry pick to make the religion look bad, you can also cherry pick good quotes to cover up the bad. The fact is, religious intolerance is prevalent in Islamic countries. Unbelievers can be charged extra taxes, aren't regarded as having the same rights, and are commonly used as enemies to unite factions and gain support.
Even in the recently democratized Afghanistan, the Muslim leaders have ranked "kafirs" or unbelievers, slightly more kosher than dogs, but slightly less kosher than unclean meat... So that tells you something...

What most Americans cannot or will not see is that our violence matters too. Every time there is an instance of violence by a Muslim, it's labeled terrorism. Every time there is an instance of all out war against a civilian population by Americans it's somehow justified. BOTH are terrorism. And Christian fundamentalism does play a part in the terrorism that we commit. It does not have to be official government policy for that to be the case. When GWB says that God told him to attack Iraq we have a serious case of Christian fundamentalism being used for violence by a powerful government. It is unacceptable, for either religion. I don't judge Christianity by fundamentalist wrong-doing (even when it comes from the government), and I don't think it's fair to judge Islam in a way I don't want Christianity judged.
Your concept of Christian fundamentalism grossly underestimates the violence and damage that it's done. Ask the people of Iraq if they think it's about abortion protests. And before you tell me that they're all killing each other and we're just innocent bystanders, allow me to remind you of our "shock and awe" treatment. That was not a fireworks show. That was cold-blooded, mass murder.
Americans find it very easy to rationalize our own violence while condemning others'. I condemn both. As do many (probably most) Muslims.
I'm not trying to cherry-pick anything. I'm trying to look at the whole picture because I'm tired of the cherry picking. There's a lot of hypocrisy on both sides. I live in America, so that is the hypocrisy that's most glaring to me. If killing civilians is wrong, it should be wrong for everyone. Including us!
We lost 3000 people on 9/11. The retribution we unleashed was not in any way, shape, or form proportional. It wasn't even against the people who did it! If Muslims act that way the word we use to describe it is "terrorism." We need a working definition for that word and then we need to make sure that nobody does it, regardless of what country they're from.
It will never end until we start to see each other as complex rather than simple. As individuals rather than ideologies.

You are falsely attributing the actions of a (heavily) secular nation to the most common religion of that country.
If you're going to ignore the obvious differences and the obvious widespread influence of Islamic fundamentalism, fine. I'm not gonna bury my head in the sand or dumb anything down.

i used to live where i had to go through a *muslim* area to get places and i couldnt stand it! i'm not sure whether all muslims wana kill every other race but theirs but they sure don't like us! I'm sick of the looks i get off a muslim in my own contry, i get looks as if i shouldn't be here, they speak in a different language right behind me to try and intimidate me, i really can't stand them!! I don't know why they are like that but thats the way they are...

How odd. Maybe you're giving off bad vibes toward them? Because like I said, I live in a largely Muslim community and I'm as WASP as they come and they are always so friendly to me that I often leave them wondering why everyone can't be so nice.
Perhaps they're so warm towards me because it's rare for them to encounter an American who doesn't exude hatred and fear toward them. I don't say that to pat myself on the back. I'm sincerely trying to figure out how we can be having such different experiences.

This doesn't happen just to Americans. Has anyone kept up with the Muslim rioting in France, where 6-8 police/fire men were killed every week this summer. Cars were torched, ambulances attacked. It didn't get too much coverage here in America.

I think you make a logic mistake, you suppose that the small mounts of people can represent the whole party! As for the Muslim, I heard that they hate US. But really they hate US? I don't think so, probably some of the people just want to satisfy their belly for killing and hatrad!
