What's going on in a young diabetic's mind?

I have diabetes and I am freaking scared of the consequences. I am a physical therapist working in a wound clinic and I see what this deadly disease has done to the lives of many. Of course, there is what we call diabetes management such as medicine, exercise, and diet. But still, life with diabetes seems like a life full of fear. There's always a possiblity of getting a toe amputated (or even a foot or leg) and there's always a possiblity of kidney disease and eventual dialysis. Ahhh! Complications. I'm 27 years old and I don't want these things to happen to me. I can't wait to hear your responses.
