How many people here have had an MRI of their head?(I have had both CaT scan and MRI)To make a long story short, back in 2003 my Dr. said my MRI looked good, all was clear. Recently we can now go online and see our test results etc.So I checked out what the Drs./techies had to say.I found out that I have 4-5 brain lesions, more than the average migrainuer.Apparently brain lesisons are 'normal' for a person that gets a migraine. That is what my Dr. told me when I confronted her and she said noone told me because noone wanted me to worry.
Well, brain lesions are not NORMAL for me.I have asked many Drs. and noone could tell em anythign about them or if I am going to continue to get more or if I will have things stop working because of dead brain cells.I got more info. from searching online. But it never did tell me everythign I wanted to know.
How many people here have brain lesions from migraines?Have you personally read your own test results? They usually say more than what the Dr. says.

My baby daughter had an MRI when she was 12-days old. Doctors said that the 2-3 lesions there won't really harm her. She had a brain surgery but that is a case different from the lesions in her brain. The lesions, they said are just like harmless scars. I believed them. But I still pray about it. She's 2.5 years old now and very healthy and normal. There's really miracle in faith. Don't convince yourself that you are sick coz it might happen. Instead, believe that the lesions would heal by itself thru faith. Sure, do your assignment on researching about it, but more than that, call to God, He answers prayers.

My lesions will not just go away.LOL. I continue to have severe migraines.I wouldn't say I am convincing myself I am sick.LOL. I already know I have problems with memory.Small children do wonderful rejuvinating themselves.I have always complained to the Drs. that it felt liek I was nto gettign enough oxygen to my brain.Well they all ignore me and say...that is not possible.WHATEVER!Actually noone I have talked to knows anything about them. One thing for sure,I never believe everything a Dr. says.Brain lesions are the least of my problems.LOL.

I have had several MRIs. They usually give you the films when you leave or a CD with photos of the scans. In the case of my first MRI, I took the films home and looked at them myself and could see the white lesions on the brain so it was not a surprise to hear the doctor tell me about them. In my case, the lesions are due to multiple sclerosis that leaves plaque on nerves and the brain.
What I learned then and is now always my practice, is to ask the doctor to send me a copy of the radiologist's report. The doctor will summarize and tell you what he thinks you need to know or will understand. I think you are entitled to know everything in that report.
If it makes you feel any better, I probably have more lesions on my brain that you do and the neurologist even pointed out a "black hole" which is a spot of permanent damage to brain cells and I function perfectly normally. My memory is sharper than most people I work with and I have a full time job as well as participating in mylot and writing 5-6 blogs daily.
If your doctor isn't giving you enough info, write out a list of questions before you go to see him. It's easy to be distracted and forget to ask the important questions that are worrying you. Make sure he answers in detail and to your satisfaction.
Most of all, don't worry. The neurologist is the one to ask about the migraines and the lesions and what, if any, permanent effects they might have. Good luck!

Where I am from, when you get an MRI,you NEVER are just handed the films or a copy on a cd.During my last MRI everything went wrong.A problem happened while I was inside getting the MRI(that noone wants to talk about),this where it makes me made because I told them I FELT tapping on my temple.First time I ever felt that in an MRI.I wonder why I never got a copy of the radiologist report.Normally you do around here(if you sign a form and pay for it) but during this time I did not. That is why I was so surprised when I could finally go online and read test results and I came across brain lesions.News to me 3 yrs. after the fact. All I can say is,the Dr. told me she did not want me to worry.gg....

This is interesting information. I know a lot of things are Medically unknown though as well. All I know is I am seeing a Neurologist on Friday all because I am suffering from Bad Migraines again, and curious to see what she will recommend doing for them. I had a MRI many yrs. ago but not sure if it was for that. But I also have other Health issues that might be best to see the Neurolist for as well.
If you do ever learn anything more that would be helpful, I am sure there are those of us on here that would like to hear about it as well.

This is what I was told when I confronted my Dr. about WHY I was not told..."I did not want you to worry about it as it is normal for migrainuers".Gggrrrr....In fact my report says I have more than the NORMAL amount,4-5.In my eyes ,lesions/white spots or whatever are not NORMAL.

Dear natrlvr2,
I had a brain haemorrhage 16 years ago and have since undergone a few MRIs, the latest one last December following a spate of crippling migraines.
Although I of course have a major lesion as a result of brain surgery back then, the result of my MRI clearly stated that no other lesions were visible.
In fact, as, following my own brain problems, I did read extensively about the subject, I am very surprised to hear about brain lesion that are not further investigated.
You might want to check whether it would be worth performing an angiography with contrast products, as this procedure highlights dangerous lesion in your brain better that MRI. As it is an invasive and potentially damaging procedure, it is normally performed only when the danger exceeds the risks.
If I were you, I would carefully check my medical insurance papers and see if any brain surgery or expensive treatment are excluded from your policy. From what I heard, some doctors tend to avoid recommanding procedures that their patients would not be able to afford.
Anyway, let me wish a migraine-free future
