Would you do this?

LONDON (AFP) - Sue Rogers will never be without her dead dogs and cat after having a diamond ring made from their ashes.
Rogers, from Devon in southwest England, paid 3,200 pounds (4,800 euros, 6,238 dollars) for the ring made from carbon extracted from the ashes of Lucky, an old English sheepdog, a golden retriever cross called Sam and a tom cat, Patch, a newspaper said Saturday."I am delighted with my ring as it means I can have my pets with me at all times," Rogers told the Daily Mail newspaper.
A small amount of carbon from each set of ashes was heated at temperatures of 3,000 degrees Celsius to help make a rough diamond.
The stone was then polished and certified before being set in a gold band.

WOW! I wouldn't do this. It just sounds gross. I love my animals but that is yucky. It's like stuffing them and putting them on the mantle. I never understood that either.

Having an animal stuffed it to me just plain morbid. It would make losing them even worse I would constantly be in tears and the though of patting them would gross me out.

Yuck! Ok to eaches own, I am a firm beleiver in that, but not for me. That is a bit yucky for me. I couldn't wear it knowing it was my pet at one time. I reckon I have a phobia of some sort here, but that just freaks me out. LOL

I have actually heard that u even can do this with humans and I really think that it´s wrong. Sure you love someone, or an animal but to turn their ashes into a diamond - well let´s just say that´s something I would not do!

I suppose if I had the money that Sue Rogers has I might consider doing it. However, I had so many dogs in my lifetime that I would need an awful lot of rings to keep my pets with me. I wouldn't have enough fingers to wear them on, but I might consider having earrings and brooches made from the ashes. Ha, ha.

No I do not want this to happen to me. I want to be remembered as I am, not turned into a different bit of carbon. There was an article in todays papers that you are no longer allowed to bury you own pets in your garden, not even hamsters or budgies. They have to be transported (at great expense) in approved transport and containers to a disposal centre.
Not just animals that can be converted into diamonds, also there is a firm that does this for human ashes as well, (might be the same firm). I think it is disgusting.

Neither do I although I cant think of anyone who would pay that kind of money to have me as a pinkie ring. I'd probably end up in the dustbin. As for my pets I think is sickening. My animals have so much dignity to end up as a fashion accessory is too much.

No I wouldn't do this simply because I have no money to do that.
It was a nice idea in my personal opinion; but still.. too high price to pay.
They could do the similar process to human too. If I am not mistaken. I have no objection to this, except for the price.

this lady must really loved her pets.i myself would not have done this.if she could afford it than i dont see anything wrong with it.some people go to great lenght to preserve their pets an she choose to put them in a ring.i would prefer my pet be in a grave yard.

No. I like the idea of burying my pets in the back yard and planting flowers. There's something gross about turning living creatures into jewelry and I would never do it even if I could afford to.

Um GROSS! Its as bad as the time my mom, as a kid, lost her kitten got run over by a car. Her brother stuffed the cat and brought it to her. Talk about messing a kid up! Sad!
Who does this? I heard about a similiar USA thing last year. It said that people will sometimes get their pets stuffed when they die so they can be with them all the time. ICK

Sorry, but I don't think this is something I would consider, even if I did have the money. It just doesn't sound respectful, especially considering the fact that they may be doing this to human remains as well. I love my pets, sometimes too much, but this just seems unreal.

I know how hard it can be to lose a pet and I actually think a ring made from carbon extracted from the ashes is a brillant idea. When I first read the post I thought that altough the idea sounded nice, I thought that it'd be too expensive..like atleast $50,000; nice to see that it's not that expensive. As for whether or not I'd do it, I'm not sure. It's not something I'd rule out right away though..

No I couldn't do this, I am an animal lover, but still could not do this. I read about this a year or so ago and I really did not think anyone would pay the money to do it. It is as morbid as when Angelina Jolie wore a small container her husbands blood. I think some people just have way too much money on their hands.

You know you can do the same thing with a loved one, yeah I was reading about it on the net somewhere that people were having diamonds made from their loved ones for something like $7,500 and up. I don't think I would do it, but if it works for them then so be it...lol

Far be it for me to be cynical about this issue..My Girlfriend recently mourned the passing of Her cat who'd been with her 12 Years, and I was surprised how upset I was when my own cat was poisoned, but recovered.....BUT..would there be any way of telling one artificial diamond from another? A company takes care of the disposal of the remains of a loved pet,and supplies a small commemorative stone..at that price..
I'm thinking £3200 would buy a good sized natural rock to remember the pet by....
