I am planning to buy an iguana as a pet. How hard is it taking care of them. I'm afraid my dogs would rip the poor thing to piesces. Although i have experience having a turtle as a pet. I heard the iguanas are much difficult to care for. I had a python once and it did not go so well.

You need to go online or purchase a book on the iguana before you buy one. I bought one several years ago for my son and the pet shop did not nearly advise me on what all they needed to be healthy. You need specific food, lighting, cage, and substrate on the cage floor. They also can carry salmonella bacterium so you need to keep your hands clean after handling the but we loved ours.
