Canon Rebel XT

So, I got the canon rebel xt about a week ago. I have having problems capturing bright colors without the photo being over exposed. Any tips?

maybe your white balance, or you can set the saturation in the menu.

Is it outdoors? Is it sunny? What lens are you using? Does it have a UV and /or Polarizer filter on it? Maybe all you need to do is change your white balance setting to the appropriate light your shooting in. Look for the white balance in the settings menu and turn it to either Auto, Sunny, Shade, Cloudy.. etc. Try it... it maybe as easy at that.
