I suppose you are using a digital camera. The yellow glow is because of the light. If the source of light is white (flourscent), there won't be that yellow glow. Some cameras have "white balance" which some how compensate for the colors and adjust them according to the light source, so try choosing the white balance as "incandescent" (if your camera support it). Also, if you are using advanced camera, try to lessen the light exposure. You can also use a flash.

just take a piece of white paper (best if one without a minimum touch of blue like some printerpapers) and hold it infront of the cam so that the cam sees the paper with the room light on it, then adjust with that the manual WhiteBalance of your cam. If your cam doesn't have a manual whitebalance then use the flash, if you don't have one then is your cam really wtf? XD
maybe you could upload a picture so we can see what "glow" you mean because like this I can only guess.

I think that the best solution is to make sure that you have the light behind you when you are taking the picture. I am not sure if i can explain it right but insyead of using the indoor lights try to use the ight of the flash so keep the household lights towards your back and i am pretty sure that this will help alot to decrease the yellow glow that you get!!
