This last christmas I did not make heavy decorations all around the house. I just decorated my kitchen because that is where I am when I am home. I think that some people want to decorate the whole house, obviously because it looks nice, but then they are too busy to dismantle everything. If I know I have a certain amount of time that I can afford I stick to my schedule. I won't over-decorate only to leave the decorations till February. It's pure nonsense!

I cant believe they are still lit. That is funny. We do still have ours up. The temperatures here have been below 0 for awile now and there is no way I am going to go out and take them down but they are not plugged in. The lights on the house is the only thing still up. We have taken every thing else down.

I usually take mine down on New Years Day. But this year we kept them up a little longer, it was our first year with my grandsons back in the family and the first time we could get all three kids and six grandkids together was Jan. 6.
I know some people leave their lights up all year because it is too hard on them to take them down and put them back up. And I know some are just lazy. But some may be waiting for a loved one to come home from Iraq or other faraway places.

I leave my lights up all year. In the middle of winter ther is nothing like a little color when you look out of the window at night.
Our house cannot beeen seen from the highway or any road . I guess I get to keep my quirky habits to myself.

Nope, i didn't even have any decorations up this year! we were not at home for xmas so we didn't bother to put any up. I think people who keep their decorations up like all year are lazy, but WHY would you keep them on? maybe a different religion has a holiday that they put their lights up for? that's the only thing i can think of!

I don't have my Christmas lights or anything up anymore. I took mine down just after the New Year started. I've noticed around here there are lots of houses that still have their Christmas decorations in their yard yet, and driving at night I still see a few who keep their holiday lights on. I can't believe that they'd still have the lights going so long after the season's been over! One thing in defense of the decorations in the yard is that around here we were hit with really bad weather for weeks on end. If it hasn't been snowing to beat the band it's been around zero and with the wind chill it's even lower. So, from that point I can see how some may have avoided trying to get on ladders to remove them. I can kind of understand that, leaving the lights up because it's too dangerous to get them down is one thing, but come on, they don't need to be lit up!

No, ours are not still up. I do however have a neighbor who still has a large wooden red sleigh sitting in her front yard. In the sleigh is a wooden santa figure driving it and a few fake packages are in the back of the sleigh. My teenage son swears that if the sleigh hasn't been moved by Easter, they are going to put a set of ears on santa and replace the fake packages with some large, colorful wooden eggs! I'll break their arms if they do!

That's funny that you bring that up. My Christmas lights aren't still up, my husband took them down as soon as we got home from Missouri in the middle of January (they would have been down sooner but we had to leave on New Years Eve because his grandmother passed away).
However, yesterday when we pulled into the driveway I did notice that I hadn't taken the Christmas window stickers down from my son's room! He was asleep when I took the ones down from the downstairs windows and the computer room. It just slipped my mind to take his down after he got up from his nap.
