Is is safe to give a pregnant dog a bath?

Our dog is pregnant and it is her first pregnancy, i am wondering if it is okay for her to be given a bath... we are afraid that if we give her one, she will loose her pups.. our dog by the way is getting stinky and we really think that she needs a bath, she hasn't taken a bath for like 3 weeks now.. our dog is a japanese pitz..

It's okay to give your dog a bath but just as a pregnant person is delicate, a pregnant dog is too. If it's cold, give her a warm bath, if it's hot, give her a cool (bot not too cold) bath. She needs to be clean and she will be refreshed after the bath which is very important because pregnant dogs also feel irritable at times when the weather is too hot or when they feel dirty or sticky.
