I have always loved horses. I had to wait till I was 30 before I got my first one. Now we have 2. Unfortunetly I don't have that much time to spend with them :o(. My life is really crazy right now. Anyone else love horses?

Hi Jrkcmw, I am a horse lover too! Right at this moment, I don't have one, (first time in my life for that!) I'm 57 and I've had horses since I was 5 years old! Mostly, I've had Appaloosa's and quarter-horses. I was very ill about 5 years ago and haven't had any since then. My oldest daughter is a large animal vet (horses, cows, and farm animals) she has all the horses down there. She's kind enough to trailer them up to our farm here so that Mom (me) and she can go for a ride on our trails, and over to a neighboring park. I know what you mean about life getting too busy to be spending much time with them. I spent wayyyyyyy too much time with them before. I used to break horses for trail and pleasure riding, and one Sunday a month for at least 35 years, we had a trail ride on the farm here. It was a nice get together. We made all kinds of trails all through our woods that lead from one park to another. You could literally ride for hours and not see another soul...just nature. I live in NE Ohio, up towards Lake Erie, in an area that's still mostly farm land. It's always nice to meet another horse person! Write if you ever want to. Happy trails!!!

Your place sounds so nice. I would love to go on a trail ride in your area. We have some nice riding area too. There is a real nice gated community close by my house that only has a few houses and lots of cattle that is right between to mountains. It is not a very long trail but it is very peaceful. I am sorry you don't have horses anymore. I lived without them for most of my life and I got my first when I was 30. I don't ever want to live without them again.

Well, if you ever trailer your horses through NE Ohio via Interstate 90, you've always got a place to camp and park. Yes, there's hours and hours worth of trails around here. It's one of the reasons my daughter likes to trailer them home here. Here's a couple of neat links I've had bookmarked, maybe you'll enjoy them too: This ones for making different formulas for your own fly spray. (We all know how expensive that gets!!!) http://www.moniteausaddleclub.com/flyspray_recipes.htm Here's some other ones I like to check out every now and again: http://www.horseloverscentral.com/hlc/index.asp (there's some nice trail reviews in the one above) http://horselovers.tribe.net/ http://www.letterboxingonhorseback.com/ Check out the letterboxing one...sounds like it could be fun! Have a great day horsin' around:-)

I have 8 appaloosa's, they have a very interresting history. The Nez Perce tribe (native indians) used them in their war's. They are very calm horses.

One of my first lesson horses was an appaloosa. I think they are cool horses. Check out my new blog. It's about horses http://www.horseapproved.com

I love horses when i was younger i went to the camps and everything to learn to care for them etc. my parents even got me a saddle, but they were worried i didn't understand the responsiblity of caring for one so i went to my aunt and uncles farm for a month to live the life so to speak and i did it all w/out any complaints getting up at 4:30 in the morning to pitch the stalls and brush and clean the horses and feed them etc altho i think it was a little more extreme as they had me milking goats and stuff too but i did it all we went to bed at like 7 or 8 and it was all good but unfortunatly shortly there after my parents divorced and there went my ever getting a horse... sigh i am 27 now happily married w/3 kids of my own and another on the way i hope to still one day have horses, it'll have to be alot tho cause i'm sure all the kids will need there own so maybe when there a little older if hubby and i have the finances we can look into that, heres to someday :)
