I never had an easy bake oven as a kid but I'll say this much, it was at the top of my Christmas list every year. I still want one and I've found myself looking for them on eBay whenever I get the chance. I still have a desire to cook and bake with that one and make cakes by lightbulb. I don't care how long it takes to locate one of those easy bake ovens or how old I will be when i finally get it but I know when I do get it, I'm going got cook a lot of different things in there.
I think to have the easy bake oven in my possession would have made my childhood so much fun. I could have had little bake sales for all my stuffed animals or just make someone a special little cake just to brighten their day. I like stuff like that. How often are toys able to make edible food? Not that often in my opinion.
It kind of didn't surprise me how many things i missed out on during my childhood. My Mother was always working and we were expected more or less to just use whatever we found out side as toys. I had no problem with that and in no way am I complaining, but that easy bake oven was probably the biggest thing from my childhood that I wanted to play with. i like cakes and cookies and I know they had recipes for both of those.
There were always ideas in my head about what I could make with the easy bake oven or stories I'd like to tell involving someone who owns a restaurant and is baking and cooking dinners for some invisible customer. I just loved the idea of being able to bake and cook for others. I liked to see their reactions and ear how much they liked what I cooked in it.
When I think of my childhood I know that the easy bake oven is the only toy that was missing. It was the number one toy on my Christmas lit for the longest time and I still hope I can find one nowadays that works. I'd love to be able to just sit down and make my other half some cakes and cookies with it.
In conclusion, I really wished that I had an easy bake oven when I was a kid because they truly looked like so much fun. I think I still want it to revisit a piece of my childhood that was missing all along. I want to reclaim a part of my childhood that I previously never had so this is how I feel.
Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

No, I never had one, I was more interested in the "real thing"
When I was about 5 i decided to make mom a cake while she was still sleeping (in the morning) I mixed water and flour and put it on a plate, turned the oven on as i had seen mom do and baked my cake. My mom woke from the smell of burned something =)
She didnĀ“t have the heart to get angry with me since i was cr ying coz the damn cake was burned but she had me promise to never try to bake her a cake again unless she was theer with me =)

I loved my easy bake oven. It made me feel so grown up. I did not even care about the light bulb. It was the Easy Bake OVEN. That is what was most important. I made lots of deserts for my mom and dad. It was my favorite toy. It had the best accessories! I am going nuts here having and easy bake flash back LOL :).

I never had one, but my daughter does. There's no longer a lightbulb. My daughter loves her Easy Bake Oven, but the cakes it makes are like pancakes!

I used to love mine! Everything I made didn't taste too well and my mom gave up buying me those premade mixes and let me bake some of her cake mix in my easy bake oven pans. I'd make a mini cake and she'd pour the rest of it in a regular pan and bake it in the oven. I gave up on my easy bake oven pretty easily once I saw my mom use the real thing but it was a great toy to pretend to bake in, even though the desserts weren't too tasty.

I loved my easy bake oven! I hope that my daughter wants one because I would love to get to play with hers with her in a few years. I'll also teach her to cook/bake with the real oven though. I don't think the fun came from knowing that it is your own oven, not the big boring one that mom and dad use.
