Have you seen the tv series "LOST"?

After a tragic farming accident took their now 9-year-old son's leg and shortly after, a fire burned one of their barns to the ground, the Daughertys are just thankful for all they have and that their family is healthy. That's why they're being featured a second time on "Our Ohio," a 30-minute, magazine-style television series to be aired on WOUC on Wednesday. The Daugherty family's segment was first aired in November of last year. The farm, located just off of Ohio 83, has been in the Daugherty family for five generations. Bill runs the farm with his father, Martin Daugherty, his wife, Caroline and their four children; Kyle, 9, Kristin, 18, Kari, 16, and Andi, 11. The dairy and grain farm has 100 cows and 1,000 acres of corn, soy beans and hay. Their son Kyle, a third-grader at Keene Elementary School, survived a terrible farming accident the day after Thanksgiving in 2004. Today he and his dad speak to students about the dangers on farms and how to stay safe. "We were harvesting corn and he was helping his uncle transport some corn to the field where we stored it and he got in the grain cart to try to help his uncle push the corn down. He slipped and went low enough that one leg went through the safety bars and got caught and tore his leg off," Bill said. Luckily, Kyle's uncle was present and able to pull him out and call 911. "We're very fortunate to still have him," Bill said. Then just before the staff from "Our Ohio" was to arrive for filming, and not even a year after Kyle's accident, one of their barns burned down after hay caught fire - four weeks after it had been harvested. The family lost several combines, a tractor and several pieces of farm equipment. He said the staff from Our Ohio talked extensively with Kyle about his accident and the barn fire. They spent two days interviewing the family and filming the farm. "He thought it was pretty cool," Bill said of his son's reaction to being on TV. "When they filmed him he was 7. Any 7 year old thinks it's pretty cool to be on TV." Since the accident Kyle has had three surgeries and wears a prosthetic leg. "He remembers. He knows what happened," Bill said. "He doesn't let it hold him back and doesn't use it as an excuse. It's just who he is now, and is part of life." Kyle still helps out around the farm and said the accidents have given his family a new perspective on life. "We rebuilt the barn, the equipment was replaced, nobody got hurt. Things can be rebuilt and be replaced, but you can't replace a life or a leg. Sometimes you think you've got things bad but somebody always has it worse, so we make the most of it and do the best we can," Bill said.

This is one awesome show with a great plot and excellent characters. Using a mostly unknown cast was a superb decision. It helps me identify better with each. I'd have to say I like Kate the most at this point but I love them all for each of their own uniqueness. I'm not sure where you are in the show there in the Philippines so I won't comment who's where on what island and what's happening A new episode is airing tonight here in the states.
