I need advise. I have always been a person who would care for an elderly person rather then putting them in a nursing home. I took care of both of my Parents until they passed away. I have taken care of Aunts and Uncles that were sick and elderly. I have gotten a bad reputation as if I am an OLD MAID and a person does not want to live my life and have fun. It is not wrong to take care of an elderly person in my eyes. Today I received a call from my friend and says that would I be interested in taking care of an elderly woman that is 94 and is going blind. It would not be physical work it would be a companion and making sure she eats and is ok while her daughter goes out. The daughter is saying she needs a break and wants to go out once in awhile to get away. What are your ideas ? I think I would enjoy this it would be something that would make me feel useful and I would feel better about myself helping someone. I know I should not let others opinions bother me and just do what I want but it is always nice to have support when you make a decision. There is really no one else I can talk to about this so I value your opinions. Thanks in Advance.

I think you should do it. I mean, if that is what makes you feel good, then do it. It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks about what you choose to do. It is your life, let them live theirs, and leave you alone. I say do it, and if it makes you feel good, and you think you can help this lady, then help her. I think it is a beautiful thing you are doing, there should be more people in the world like you. Those people who are saying all these negative things to you should realize that one day, they too will be old and will hope they have someone as caring as you to care for them. Go with your heart, and do it.

Thanks for your response. I think in the back of my mind I knew I wanted to do this but it sometimes is nice to have support from others.

Dear, do not ever care what others think or say about you. What matters is how you feel about yourself, and your maker. You have a big heart. Do what you feel is right and what you want to do. Blessings, M&M
