Why do we call someone who does things differently a “maverick”?

i also have a question why is this called "Hat trick" when a bowler in cricket takes 3 wickets on three balls?
i know the answer if you know plz tell

Maverick, usually referring to semi-wild, unbranded cattle in the Western United States. The term is also applied (less commonly) to other unbranded range animals such as horses; for an example, see the Dallas Mavericks logo
