Just wondering what age you were when you started fishing?? what kind of fishing? did you like it at first or no? how has it progressed since the first time? do you fish a lot now? for more types or just one?
As for me. I started fishing really young with my grandpa. he used to take my lil bro n i fishing for trout. i was probably about 5 maybe younger the first time i went. I have always loved to fish. when i got a lil older i started to fish for blue gill, sunfish and an occasional bass or two...mostly by accident in a creek next to my house with my brother. than my dad started to take us fishing all the time in rivers and lakes....i have now moved on to lots more types of fishing with my husband. Albacore, Bluefin, Yellow Tail, Large mouth bass, Catfish, Salmon (been fishing for them in the river on shore but never landed one all of em spooled me haha im not proud of that!), sandbass, calico bass, spotted bass, pacific barracuta, bonito, bone fish(only caught one of those!) west coast rock fish, halibut, i still fish for trout, and im now learning how to fish for Stripped bass (rock fish east coast) from the surf...ive caught em in the bay but never on the beach. i cant wait! ive been learning how to cast mickey's and now poppers and other kinds of plugs! i cant wait! and im like one of the only girls out there!!!! so yes i still do love fishing! and i cant wait to learn more! its crazy to look back and see how much i fish and how many different fish i fish for! is it the same way with you?
Cant wait to hear from you about your fishing experiance!

My dad introduced me to fishing when I was 5, I believe. Maybe younger but don't remember. lol He used to take my bro and me to the club we belonged to early in the morning and stay till 10-11 at nite with a campfire going. If we caught alot, my dad would clean em right there and that was our lunch/dinner. Whatever happened to jump on our hook is what we caught. No specific fish but I remember it was catfish, bass, sunfish, and bluegills mainly. Those were my fondest childhood memories. I would disappear quite often and turn up at the creek running along the back of my subdivision with fishing pole, tackle box, and a can of worms. Sometimes coming home with a can of crawfish for our next fishing day. Now, I don't fish much anymore but occasionally I would fish the creek running along the back of our property just for relaxation. Funny, other ppl fish it and catch bass and catfish when only I get are sunfish and bluegills. lol Don't matter to me cause I'm not looking for a trophy fish or a meal. I mainly catch and release.

My earliest memory of fishing was with my father and one of my older brothers. I had to be about three maybe four. We lived in Western Pennsylvania, and they took me with them on one of their fishing trips to a river not far from our home. I remember my Dad caught a rainbow trout, fly fishing. I thought it was great. The next time they went out fishing, he had made me small fly rod, which I still have, and started teaching me to fish. I remember I was so excited when I caught that first fish. It was about a four inch rainbow. I have been hooked (hey I made a funny)ever since. My father passed away in 1992, and I inherited all of his fishing equipment. I intend to pass it on to my children.
I have taught all four of my children the love of fishing. They all go with me in the spring, summer, and fall. I live in Michigan now, and with the lakes around us I don't do too much fly fishing anymore, but my one son has taken it up. He uses his grandfathers pole.
I am now 58, and still have a great love for fishing and the time it has afforded me to spend with my father and brother, not to mention the quality time I spent with my kids.

I don't like fishing, my step dad loved fishing and I remember he would watch us so my Mom could sleep (she worked nights). He would pile us all in the truck and take us fishing. I swear we weren't even allowed to breathe. LOL
No sudden movements, no sneezing, no coughing, no talking and definitely no laughing. I think I was about 7 years old when I started fishing. But, in all honesty it was fun trying to see how long we could stay still without moving. hehehehe

trout fishing. is the mainstay of my weekend relaxation. as a kid we used too fish the harbour and coast of the river tyne in england.but the fish were only tiny sprats and once in a while a codling.rubbish really. the trout fisheries are of the "put & take type" but are really good fun on float ,ledger ,or fly... mainly rainbows but the occasional brown or "blue" which look a bit like a steelhead.. biggest fish ive caught 8lb 8 oz. my wifes biggest fish 15lb 10 oz .... ive got to keep trying harder..

I was born with a fishing pole in my hand. Honest I love fishing with all my heart. Most all of my greatest memories to this day are from fishing with my family growing up on the river. When we have family get together 90% of the time we meet at the river and fish, talk, eat and have fun!

After reading your other responses I guess I led a sheltered childhood. I didn't start fishing until my husband took me. I guess I was about 20.
We've gotten better at it. We used to catch hardheads and smaller sharks. Now we catch larger sharks and redfish and specs. I LOVE saltwater fishing!
