Sitting with your legs crossed is a form of disrespect

Here in our country it is said to be a way of disrespecting your elders if you sit before them with your leg over the other.
what is your idea?people normally say it is a good posture and gives you attention.And also you look dignified.

hello, i'm from china. in my idea, i think being a girl sitting with legs crossed is a elegent position. but when you a man, it's not good you have a this posture. as a men when you sit like this , people will say you a so proud and look upon others.

Which country you are talking about? I live in India and we see even the News Readers in TV Channels keep their legs crossed. There is no question of disrespect. It is a perfect posture so far and so long you are comfortable and taking care of your dresses. You know what I really mean by "dresses". I think the world around us is changing so fast that soon you will see accesptance for this so called disrecpectful posture in your country as well.

It is not a form of disrespect here in the US. I agree it does help with your posture but it also hindered the blood circulation in the legs. I also think that it is sexy.
