In this day and age that VCDs and DVDs have phased out the VCRs, where have kept the VHS and Betamax tapes you have? Our family have about a hundred of them and my mother wants to them away now because they are already useless. What have you done with these?

yes yes. although we stored them in boxes.. most of them are home videos. those were the days... but i still have a working betamax player.. those were the days.. sigh
so basically they are not entirely useless. look at it this way... save it, make sure it is kept properly and nicely. take care of it. one day, when you are old and you have grand grand grand kids... the betamax players will be considered a part of the electronic history and maybe you could sell them to the collectors... hmmm same reason why i still keep my atari.

Yes. It will be a joy to let your kids or even grandchildren to watch you when you were a child. The problem is our Betamax and VHS is already not operational. I would have to avail of the VHS to VCD that is common in malls to save those home videos.

I still have all my VHS in a place below my first (and only) vhs recorder! Recently I bought a new DVD-Recorder with the video entry so I can connect my vhs-recorder with the dvd-recorder and record my old tapes on a good dvd!
I began to bring my old vacations video on dvd-r supports! Even if I don't trust them so much....at least they are digital media, but they are not so reliable...they last only 3-4 years if you are lucky. I will begin to backup the often!
